The deal is the node you're staking on does it for the whole year, and if you do notdelegate your fanties right at the start of that period you can only stake for as long as the node is still doing this one run. For example the goFantom node lets you only stake for 198 days at the moment, because in 198 the nodes 1 full year will be over.
The most reputable node that is close to the full year is iirc fantomkings or FTMKings or what its called at 320
