Honestly, Big 4 is hardly worth it anymore. If you’re in one of the major cities, you’ll be working 60-80 hour weeks regularly, for below market pay

Idk what position you’re starting in, but at the firm I was at the salary structure went something like

These figures all include superannuation. Realistically, if you’re starting at Associate, it will take you at least 4 years to hit manager. That’s assuming you drink the kool-aid, network, work the shitty hours etc

Meanwhile my friends who went to industry all make around 100k a few years out of University, and barely work 40 hours a week. I left at Senior, and make more than I would have as a Manager. I WFH and probably do like 10 hours of actual work a week.

The best of both worlds can be had if you can quickly climb the ladder in the private sector, get good money sock some away, get a good title and work experience, then possibly go back to the government sector and make $220,000 per year or more, and score a fat pension based on that.
