So I googled around, it's WMF 900, made from 1923 onwards. Variants in 800 silver exist, more common is 90g/dm2 silver plating which would equal around 22.5g of pure silver in this set of 4. The slight yellowing leads me to believe in 800 silver. I couldn't find anything with an AG stamp however, which is weird.

For your first question look up a gentleman on youtube called Dan Hurd, he has very informative videos on the subject. Ask Jeff williams also has excellent material on both panning and how to find nuggets. I could write a research papers worth on looking for nuggets, but my main rule is to look where the highest flood line is, follow bedrock, look for slow down points in the water and boulder fields. Nuggets are heavy, they dont move without serious effort, and when they move, they only go as far as the next crack.
