I've researched one of my biomemes yesterday, and I wanted to share this (again) with you, because it's pretty based.
The symbol in question is LCTX, they make off-the-shelf stem cells, and they already have 2 therapies in Phase 1 and 2: one is for age-related retina degeneration and one is for spinal injuries. Absolutely great preliminary results, and they are coming out with more results before april.
Their main thing is that they don't need to culture your own stem cells, but they just inject you with their pre-made ones, which is way cheaper. What about immune reactions tho?

The Gov contract ain't happening. First, it's a govt contract, so expect at least 1 year of delay. Now that the USPS has been fucked by Trump, and now that the Dems taken over and possibly causing more chaos before finally put things in order, the delay can be even more.

Yeah, this is why I only put money into low-cap early-phase clinical stage companies. That makes it so much easier. If their stuff works, its a 2-3x. If it doesn't, 50-80% drop. No need to think about market implications and such.

ADMP looks relatively sketchy, because they are entering into a highly saturated market with I guess new delivery methods? Those are always pretty risky, and there is no good way to tell if it's going to be successful or not.
Looking into Standard of care for the things they do is extremely important.

MRNA is also way too hot for my taste. The covid vaccine business is super complex, and I don't like things I can't predict, or at least reduce to simple probabilities.

What are the potential downsides to selling covered at the money calls for a stock I hold? As I see it, I am taking profits on a position and collecting a premium on it to. And only really "miss out" if it climbs substantially above my strike. Am I missing something here? Seems like an easy way to just get another dollar per share on my position.

There are two negative scenarios
- You "miss out" if there is a gap up. In the long run IV is usually bigger than actual volatility, so you are mathematically better off
- The stock goes down by more than your premium, and maybe keeps going down, and you can't sell it without buying back your call first. The call will be way cheaper though, probably.

So yeah, selling calls is literally free money. Just don't do it around earnings or catalysts.

You buy two equities or contracts that move in the exact opposite way (e.g. you buy a call for 24 months away, and sell one 25 months away). Wait for them to move a bit (or a lot), and just before taxes you sell the one for a realized loss. After the tax date, you sell teh other leg for the same profit.
This way you can roll your profits to the next year, and you can do this indefinitely.
There are more complex patterns with even less risk like a Tax Butterfly, if you search about them.

It's been outlawed in the US since the 80's and the IRS is on a lookout for these schemes.

- Long silver future 2023.01
- Short silver future 2023.02
- Wait for silver to move. E.g. let's say it went up
- Exit the short position a day before tax date, "lose" $10K
- Exit the long position a day after tax date, and "win" $10K

Easy as. I deliberately used silver futures, because before the 80s, the COMEX actually had "tax straddle hours", where no actual trading could happen that would move the prices other than these tax-specific futures.

Following your example. If your gains that year were $10k, then good. But if they were more then you still would have to pay some tax.
Now let's suppose it goes well. Next year you need to offset the gains from that year + $10k straddled from the previous year.
