Funny you mention it. I got my intelligence tested just a few days ago, and it was a huge self-esteem boost for me, and it made me decide to put actual effort into stuff, and I just decided to learn japanese by myself. I'm still in the hiragana and katakana, but it's being much easier to memorize the kana than I tought. It's amazing how much the effort you put into things makes them easier. I had never really tried hard at anything, and it's amazing the difference it makes.
