I say try because as I said I only started trading last month, so I still need to sharpen my skills.
I use bollinger bands to get an idea of the volatility, the price on pic related is above it's 20 SMA, and about to touch the upper bollinger band, which together with the lower one indicates a a correction is due.
I use a 50 EMA to get an idea of the trend. I swing trade, and only hold stocks for a couple of days, so a 50 EMA seems like a reasonable choice of MA. The price has been on an uptrend, and we saw some nice price action near the 50 EMA recently, so it's almost certain that the uptrend will continue.
I use the RSI to look for divergences and to get an idea of the price action. The price on pic rel recently broke above previous resistance, it had done so before, but at that time the RSI indicated that the stock was oversold, so it would obviously dump below it again. However this time the RSI had been above 50 for several days, it dumped below 50, but it quickly pumped above 50 again, so it was showing good momentum, it broke above resistance at about 57, so again with very good momentum. I think that previous resistance will definitely become a new support.
I use the OBV to get a clearer picture of volume. It seems like it's solid rn.
I think this stock will drop below it's trend line for a few days, but it will quickly go back up and end up crabbing around it's new resistance for a couple of days more.

If you think it's going up you should buy asap. The only time you dollar cost average is if you absolutely have to, i.e., you're getting a paycheck weekly or whatever. The only time you wait to buy is if you know for a fact there will be a crash (nobody knows that, at best you would get lucky). All crypto miners dilute shares. Its the almost the only way they can raise cash. Those that mine bitcoin can't really sell them since while they can make profit off of it, why sell in the start of the bullrun? Those that mine ETH have an even worse problem since you're eating almost 15% or more in gas fees just to send the transaction once. Not to mention all mining rigs are depreciating assets and have to be replaced every couple years. Multiple bitcoin ETFs are coming online now and soon and will have to continue purchasing more bitcoin to increase their NAV and encourage more people to buy them; its kind of a feedback loop at this point. I think I held through 2 or 3 offerings when I was still holding MARA over just a 3 month period. I've always had a 50k by EOY price target for bitcoin and its hit that not even 2 months to this year. While I do think its possible for another -30%+ correction, who knows what it'll take? More regulation FUD from Yellen? Dips just seem to last for just a few hours and then are immediately bought up. It would take something major for bitcoin to experience another 2018, at least that's what I think.

For example TQQQ. It's like QQQ which is the unleveraged ETF for the Nasdaq 100 but TQQQ is daily rebalanced 3x leveraged. Daily rebalanced means you start off Monday morning with 3x leveraged, i.e., for every $100 the administrators of the ETF borrow $200. Imagine TQQQ goes up 10% for a $30 gain on the $300 wad. That $30 gain is added to the $100 principle making the value $130. So at the end of the day there is $130 principle and $200 of borrowed money so in effect you are no longer 3x leveraged but more like 2.53x. What Robinhood has done is basically unforgivable at this point. They can't even get the fucking 1099 upload feature on TurboTax right. I posted this earlier today, but I wanted to gauge the night crowd too. Lets talk about infrastructure. I spent my morning reading about infrastructure related companies and politics, and I came up with this watchlist. I learned 3 things from this:

1) All of these would've been excellent buys... in November
2) The smart money has already moved in, which means I missed max gains that early adopters and speculators get. This means I can only expect the relatively lower returns that come about as a result of actually spending money on infrastructure projects.
3) The combination of these factors tells me that I'm probably better off just buying PAVE or IFRA than I am buying any of these companies.

So /smg/, do you think that congress will ever actually spend money on infrastructure? Seems to me that the politicians prefer keeping those improvements in their back pockets so that they have a carrot to dangle whenever they need one. With Biden already planning to blow nearly $2 trillion on """covid relief""", I have no idea where they would even get the money for infrastructure. Anyone else making plays in this industry, and if so, what are you looking at?
