If I wanted to buy a decent amount of bitcoin, anywhere from $1k to $5k, maybe more, what's the best place to get that done with minimal fees, issues, etc?

Coinbase? Straight on an exchange like Binance?

Would prefer to actually "own" the bitcoin vs some paper version of it like I'd have on Robinhood or something, unless someone can actually make some good arguments why that would be better.

any exchange you like is fine really. Some of them have over the counter (OCO) orders but that's for like $50k and up usually. Probably just binance is fine, that's what I use

With binance. And I think buying USDT first (for no fees) then exchanging on binance is cheaper than straight buying from fiat, other anons may confirm this

If you are American, the exchange least likely get your bank account shut down is coinbase or coinbase pro

Coinbase and Gemini are easiest for Americans. You should try to get at least 0.1 BTC.

Don't use Binance, they can exit scam any moment.
For me, it's https://coin-metro.com/

>> No.29238207

if you are buying common coins like BTC/ETH, use coinmetro, its cheapest and best

if you want to buy up and comming shitcoins, get your money into coinmetro and then withdraw into a coinbase wallet or something and use uniswap to trade

I like Kraken. Harder to use for a noob but decent fee's and been around for years. Has USD, EUR and GBP. Fiat on and off ramp.

Kraken is based. Lowest fees.

For "$1k to $5k" use any exchange. Although, some exchanges have higher fees, like coinbase pro might have 0.5% fee while binance might be 0.1%. But for $5k that is a difference of $20.

I use kraken, which less known, and have market sold 5 figures worth of crypto with little slippage. That will not be an issue unless you want to trade $1mil+ at a time.

coinmetro has like 10 coins hah. I tried to sign up the other day to maybe get some of their exchange coin but verification failed 3 times so I gave up. If binance exit scammed they'd have like a million people after them, they do trades for institutional investors now too

idk how it's in the states, but where I'm from you pay tax only from the actual profit once you cash out. so with monero you can mask that and seem that you never cashed out.

Its 0.5% on Coin base pro for the poorfag tier, now while absolutely nothing would be ideal that is far from rape. The IRS takes 15%, states take up to 10%, and your bitch of a wife takes 50% when she leaves you.

Again, don't get me wrong, I'd love to not give a single cent of my money to anyone else but i can live with this 0.5%.

Right, but the IRS can see you bought Bitcoin and then bought xmr.
I am also worried about keeping crypto in case it is outlawed or they try to force everyone to turn in Bitcoin for Fedcoin

they literally cant take it without your private keys, just transfer monero a few times to mask the track

As others have said, for an American use Coinbase/Coinbase pro or Gemini. Both have their pros and cons.
Go with Coinbase if you're interesting in buying and trading more obscure altcoins down the line, they have a much wider selection than Gemini.
Gemini has less selection but they crypto they do sell is typically more "legitimate" or have some sort of real world use. I think Gemini has higher fees but it's still worth using if you're really worried about security and want to ensure you're on the safest possible exchange. They're the only one actually recognized by other financial institutions in the US and they store all customer's crypto in cold storage.
