Many tokens are nothing more than coins representing the overall worth of the company. Much like stocks. Many tokens, especially exchange tokens, only offer governance. Which means that you have a proportional vote on project changes in relation to how much of the token you own. Examples of DEX token governance coins? Uniswap, 1inch, Mooniswap, etc. They really don't do anything other than lend a value proposition to the project at large.

Rubic is different in that it is a utility token as well. The best use case for RBC as a utility token is as a tax asset. So take for example, I want to trade a token from Blockchain X for a token from Blockchain Y. If I'm trading X -> Y, how do I pay for the transaction? Is it in the underlying base network token for Blocklchain X or Blockchain Y? You can simplify this entire process but introducing Tax Asset Z. In this case, Tax Asset Z is RBC. So no matter what X and Y are, I can always pay for the swap using Z. They can always come up with more uses for RBC in the future, but for now, that is explicitly detailed in their Whitepaper in their tokenomics section.

Essentially, in the future when people (or bots mostly) are trading tokens across multiple blockchain ecosystems, they'll be able to do it all on website, and they won't need all the underlying assets like ETH, BNB, TRX, GAS, AVAX, ADA, etc. They'll simply need some RBC to be able to freely swap tokens across networks seamlessly.

1inch is an aggregator, nothing more, nothing less. No DEX project in crypto right now is looking to become the one-stop solution, except Rubic. There are dozens of DEXs that either just do basic swaps, or they have some niche thing that they do. Rubic is looking to incorporate ALL of those projects under one roof. They're already using Uniswap, 1inch, Polygon (Matic), BSC, Quickswap and Chainlink. They're going to integrate many many others over time.

In the future there will be multiple popular blockchains with tokens across all of them. The way things are currently done, you'd need to own the base asset of every single token you're trading with, and have extra for all the trading.
