Realise that it's the big boys (not retail investors that sometimes use gas) that are pumping this crabcoin now. Greyscale bought 350 million usd of eth the last two weeks. That's just Greyscale alone. Honestly if, and IF the gas fees won't get fixed it will still be a speculative asset. I predict that it will be the "silver" of bitcoin as a speculative asset/store of value

can i get a quick rundown on how gas fees are solved?
only thing i know of is EIP1559 but from what i've read it won't cause gas fees to go back to sane levels but instead just smooth out price spikes

>> No.29062786

>>29062400
Yield farming. Consolidation is better if not for rewards you get for providing liquidity with a pair of tokens. BAO is the best thing to farm right now. You will get a large APY in BAO just for holding a pair of tokens. BAO itself is going to 10x. If all you're doing is holding it's a no-brainer

Projects are moving to L2 solutions. Everything you want to do with ethereum will soon involve cheap transactions. ETH2 is PoS, not PoW, so there won't be miner fees

>> No.29063264

No chains have "solved" gas fees yet with smart contracts. The problem isn't TPS. The problem is data bloat. Loading and storing data is expensive. All these networks skirt around the issue by claiming they're faster and cheaper when in actuality they just haven't been used much. They'll be just as overloaded as ETH is if they get as much use.

With that said, ETH2.0 is aiming to reduce these gas fees by introducing data sharding and minimizing the amount of data stored on L1. L2 is the real solution for today's gas problems though. EIP 1559 won't make gas cheaper, but it will make it more predictable so users don't over pay for gas.

loopring has security guarantees equivalent to L1. you have to deposit there, but rollups guarantee you can exit even if validators go offline or become malicious
matic and xdai aren't as secure, they use bridges and are more akin to sidechains or hybrid sidechains; but they're still significantly more secure than a centralized chain like binance for example (nothing against the chink, just the one example you'll see shilled most often as an eth killer these days)
optimistic rollups should come online within the year. once/if uniswap makes the move to L2, dumb money will follow because the transition will be near seamless
