i'll be honest, i'm a weak paper handed lil bitch boy.
I bought chainlink at $2 and sold at $3.
I have been crying incel tears until now.
I bought GRT at 50 cents, and thought about selling, luckily the graph has a feature that prevents weak handed bitch boys like me from selling.
I delegated my whole stack.
Locking up my funds for a minimum of 28 days.
Now i'm FUD proof.
Now i can just ride the waves in comfort while collecting neet stacks of tendies.
If it wasn't for the anti-paperhands feature known as delegating/staking i would have sold at $1.
So grateful they made this feature for those of us with weakhands.

Historically, GRT is a pump and dump. Hate to break it to you folks, but it is. These are the facts. People saying it isn't, you're on the wrong side of the data. The entire market is being run by trade bots. Large GRT tokens have been already allocated to holders, way before GRT even hit the exchange platforms, because of testnet operations (before mainnet).

I estimate each token to be valued at 0.30-0.35 maximum until larger companies want to use it, which currently they don't, because it is too expensive too. ETH is expensive, in general, to use anyway.

With that being said, GRT is a utility token which means the price has to remain low for companies to even want to use it. It is just the way it is right now

Large GRT tokens have been already allocated to child molesters, way before GRT even hit the exchange platforms, because of Pornhub funding (Before main net)

I estimate each token to be valued at 0.30-0.35 maximum until larger companies want to use it, which currently they don't, because it is too expensive too. ETH is expensive, in general, to use anyway.

If an indexer is doing a good job indexing and providing useful queries they'll earn more GRT than indexers doing a shitty job. If you delegate to them you start earning a portion of what they're earning. This can also be viewed as an indexer earning a token of your trust.

And it has the effect of pulling massive amounts of coins off the market. Everything about this protocol is a scam. It's not just designed to index the blockchain, it's designed create a permanently positive slope to the price of GRT so long as The Graph exists as a viable protocol. It's a huge f*cking scam meant to make holders of GRT money. It's so blatant and obvious it's ridiculous.

Is holding The Graph the ultimate bagholdery?

I cannot think or comprehend of anything more cucked than holding GRT. Honestly, think about it rationally. You are buying, holding, staking, and losing money on a token for at least 5 years solely so it can go and get ravaged by the indexers. All the hard work you put into your beautiful little stack - doing due diligence and research before bedtime, picking the right indexers to delegate with, making sure it's a healthy percentage of your holdings, watching it grow, not selling it. All of it has one simple result: its price will ultimately become more enjoyable for those who will eventually pump it and dump it.

Built the perfect stack? Great. Who benefits? If you're lucky, a random man who had nothing to do with the project, who buys the dip. He gets to swing it every night for easy gains. He gets the benefits of its perceived stability and notional value that came from how long YOU held it.

As a man who has a stack of GRT you are LITERALLY dedicating at least 5 years of your life simply to hold riches for another man to enjoy. It is the ULTIMATE AND FINAL bag. Think about it logically

Don't even know what a sub graph is

>> No.29002461

Right now indexers are giving delegators a lot of their rewards so our APY is like 15% once subgraphs go live on the network they will reduce our % of the cut. The query fees won't make up for the difference so APY will lower. Then if we assume after the 6 billion token unlock a majority get delegated that will further dilute the APY. So we'll probably be sub 10% APY maybe even 5%. Over time as the network serves more and more queries the APY should consistently raise.

I've thought a lot about this because I had your take as well, but with the new subgraphs come new indexers, who should have to compete for stakes GRT. It's all going to depend on the volume of queries and the amount of tokens circulating.

>> No.29002840

>>29002461
What makes you think that they would lower it? Currently p2p is pulling a majority of the traffic but the little guys all want a piece of the action. Once query fees come into the picture that's when you'll see the real movement happen. People will go to the indexer with the best reward cuts generating the most queries. This is essentially the indexer that is cheapest for developers but also most generous to delegators while still turning a profit. Effectively the free market is going to BTFO you.

To expand
We know in January the graph served 11 billion queries. We also know the price per query will be roughly $0.00001

11 billion x 0.00001 = $110,000 = 48034.93 GRT spent on query fees for the month of January.

Now split up 48034.93 GRT between all the indexers and delagators and it's really not a lot to be be shared.

I can't disagree with your math, but it implies there will be roughly 1,600 GRT in fees daily network-wide.

Pooltogether, the only subgraph that is live, has had days where it generated 1,200 GRT in fees itself. Frequently it has around 200. So something is off about the estimate.

Also plenty of upside for queries in the blockchain space going forward.

Now multiply that by 7000 assuming that none of the services experience any increase in traffic at all and there's literally only ever 7000 subgraphs and that no other subgraph gets any more traffic than that one.
48034 x 7000 = 336,238,000 GRT or $773,347,400 at current prices. And that's just for month month. Over the year that's 1,325,738.4 GRT or $9,280,168,800 assuming GRT literally never goes up in value.
>But queries need to be cheap
Correct. When they are paid. In 2008 a man bought a pizza with Bitcoin that is now worth 500 million dollars. Any rewards collected go into your delegation pool increasing your APY total in GRT which increases rapidly as compared to USD.

“The Graph” is not needed. Nobody will use this. Ask yourself, what data exists on the blockchain that cannot already be queried?

None. It’s all searchable in linear time, just one pass through the blockchain and you’ll have your answer in a matter of days, or even hours if you spend enough on hardware (remember this task can be parallelized! You can do a map-reduce and become the google of blockchain!)

The only reason The Graph is a thing is because these MTV-generation kids want subsecond results on their queries. Never learned the virtue of patience.

Query volume should also increase with the new subgraphs are brought online and any new networks that get added. They can increase query fees if the service is indispensable to the consumers. If query fees start to get collected and people realize they're lucrative, more people will want to delegate and index. When that happens, the liquid supply of GRT will dry up. When the supply dries up, the cost goes through the roof. When developers realize the benefit of GRT they'll all want to use GRT to index which will start the process anew further raising the price. But the cost of a query is fixed to a value in fiat. So you can have expensive GRT without crippling the network.

It's a nice thought but eventually you are going to need to purchase something with a currency that will be accepted. For that you will need an exchange. That exchange will need to acquire legal currency. Digital currency is traceable. Do you see where this is going? There will ce a day in the near future when the entire global economy is staring into the abyss and in that moment they will either choose to embrace decentralized finance that was established outside of their control or they are going to make their own and enforce its use at gunpoint.
Crypto will follow the same script as the internet itself. You're lucky to live in the period before they bring crypto under control.

The internet was centralized from day one and literally invented as a military research between universities. It's intention was always centralization. Crypto is based around decentralization. Nobody needs the wef to make a digital currency that's centralized. That's what my bank account is. It's 2020. Most people haven't touched physical cash in years. If they try to kill decentralized crypto it will just increase the price of decentralized crypto. Black markets exist for everything and certain countries have bigger concerns than regulating these things.

Well for comparison, the big boys charge 6 cents per 100k queries. That's $0.0000006. electricity doesn't need to be very exciting. Say your bill is 10 cents per kwh you just need to make sure that you can process 200k queries in the time it takes you to consume that. Average server draws about 1kwh so basically if you can do 160,000 queries per hour you'll break even.
That's only 115,200,000 queries a month. They'll be fine. They really shouldn't price the queries in such a way that the centralized solution is 10x or 100x better price wise. People need to stop trying to get rich quick at the expense of the protocol. Ethereum miners especially.
