A spac is a special purpose acquisition vehicle. A shell company raises money through investors like you and me and whales all at the same price (usually 10) and founders go hunting for a company to take public. If they don't find a company to merge with they give you the NAV back i.e. your 10 bucks hence the limited risk. but usually they do and your money goes up. spactrack.net is a good resource. you don't know ahead of time what company they will get (the target) but you do know what industry they are targeting. Buying spacs last year in the EV segment made my portfolio go up %500. I just bought PIPP today because of all the cronyism associated with Biden. I just park money in the cheap ones until I find something to do with it or maybe they go up and I hold them.

I assume you would just wake up one day and your shares would be gone and your 10 bucks a share would be converted to cash. When it mergers people freak out because the spac ticker is gone or frozen/halted. The next day or sometimes a day or two later it converts to the new ticker/company.
