With dot and ada you are buying into a project which very well may deliver but may very well not. As much as people like to shit on eth lately that's where all the projects are atm. Despite being false or true people have hope eth 2.0 will make gas fees lower, therefore eth is the safest bet.

Consider this: most DOTs are staked, those that aren't will soon be locked up for 2 YEARS in parachain auctions - the equivalent of DOT ICOs. If you read up about this auction mechanism, the limited number of slots, the methods of fundraising, the fact you get your DOT back after the lockup period PLUS your share of the new project's tokens... you'll understand why this is gonna be gold.

So: level 1 supply squeeze plus surefire level 2 projects. It's the most promising project out there... not as an ETH killer, but as one chain to connect them all. I believe it will give birth to many important protocols.

Do not sleep on DOT. It's like an alchemical stone that changes pedo to peso.

Polkadot is still in testnet. There are no parachains. Thats the thing, anyone can fucking claim they are gonna be on dot but unless they have the millions to pay for a parachain, they aint gonna get a spot.

No parachain auctions have been launched yet. Reef is using ERC-20s to (allegedly) fund dev and to put up the enormous amount necessary to win an auction slot, so holders do not actually have stake in a DOT project. And maybe never will. Scam or not, it's sketch as fuck.

KSM is solid. All the parachains that build on dot will build on KSM first. Also the projects that claim to build on dot but in reality cant afford a parachain can easily get one on Kusama since its much cheaper. Kusama might actually thrive as a DeFi network, forget parachain auctions. Im very bullish on Kusama.
