Fundamentally, PLTR is a longshot to ever be a huge success. They make software to analyze data for customers, which isn't anything special, except they say their algorithms are better than everyone else's. They don't sell the software though. If you want to use it for its insights, you have to hire them as consultants so they can operate their software on your data. Apparently, the software requires numerous tweaks and modifications to produce anything of value on an unfamiliar dataset, so it's very labor intensive, and it's very expensive software developer/mathematics labor too. PLTR's goal is to eventually have worked with enough customer data sets such that new data becomes easier to analyze over time, and they slowly require less labor to support each customer. Will it happen? Maybe... some day...

I want to roll it over after maybe 2 months, since I know I will lose money on it over time, and the closer it is to expiry date, theta decay is enormous. So I want to roll it before it gets to that point. Uvxy decays slightly over time anyway, so you are guaranteed to lose money if the market doesn't dip. The goal is to minimize the decay

I've been using new DD on WSB to find new stock picks for a couple years. Yeah yeah, go back or whatever. I'm done there and trying to find a few long term holds. I've still got about 30k to fuck around with after that. I want to play something 6 months / leapish. I'm thinking something that got held under by covid. I'm almost thinking Comcast Corporation. I worked at an event center through most of high school and college. It got bought out by Comcast because the city (who owned it) wasn't cutting it. then you are barely out much because the calls were so cheap. obviously you arent doing this to every fucking stock, you narrow the field by picking likely candidates based on hype and popularity. in the old days, like 10 years ago, you would do it on market fundamentals. you can still do a bit of both. if you can find a gem early enough before most other people realize it, then jump in. if you are educated in a particular area, or an expert in a field, use that to your advantage and cultivate a group of stocks that you stand a better chance at realizing potential value before other people. for example, if you have a phd in genetics, look into those type of biosci companies and figure out what products they have that might be of value and a timetable and likelihood they will be useful. even if its just the idea of it, thats sometimes enough. i wouldnt recommend short term expirations though unless you are late to the game and trying to play catch up or you feel like throwing away money gambling.
