its like poker chips. It takes eth off chain and onto layer 2, where all the transactions you want to do will occur without incurring gas fees. Then, when its time for final settlement (paying the check) you bring it back on chain and pay the gas fee. Imagine things like high frequency trading and how painful that would be on a dex.

But because it goes off chain it loses security. So when it goes off chain it needs to be validated by chainlink nodes, and when it comes back on chain it needs to be validated by chainlink nodes.
