Frugality all of the time leads to a life of misery. There's nothing wrong with splurging (within your means) to maintain sanity.

The human digestive system is not 100% efficient. No system is. I have had a method of filtering and re-prepping my stools for consumption. I estimate that I can survive, meal wise, off USD$0.75 per day purely by sifting, straining, rinsing, and dry baking the contents of each and every stool, then mixing with filler material such as seasoned corn meal.
Pic is my entire stool, combined with an extraction tincture, prior to first mesh pass. You will want to keep a low fat diet, as fatty stool is impossible to clean, fat becomes rancid, and your first meal of dry roasted fatty stool will probably make you want to kill yourself. I have been immunised against all types of hepatitis so I do not advise you to try this until I provide more information.

the whole point of being frugal is so you have more money to invest. just find a balance.

Frugality was a meme sold to the poor by the rich to say they can “get by on less.” The implication there is that having more is financially irresponsible. Who determines how much income the poor have to spend on things? The rich.

Personally, in learning to be frugal, I've learned how expensive fast food is, to use my cash back on my credit card, and just saving money generally/budgeting my paycheck

It's helped me learn more to cook and also just be more efficient mentally.

I actually tried being frugal for years and it didn't do shit for me. I found out WAY too late about the time value of money and what things are actually worth. Since then I have no problem spending my whole check in a risky way on a Herman Miller Aeron chair, on a 4K QLED computer moniter, on the drawing tablet I wanted for years so I could work on my game art. And ever since I switched from that poverty conscious attitude of being frugal to an abundance mindset, I know it's cliche, but it works. I used to would have gotten upset if I broke my $1000 television. Now I understand that my time is worth $200+ an hour and if I have to get some frustration out on a television it's worth it to break it and buy a new one. Hope this helps.

Its definitely worth it OP.
I have done everything in my power to average down my usage of toilet paper over a couple decades.
>I have trained my body to time my BMs with my shower schedule.
>Wiping unnecessary before shower.
>Fiber consumption for clean wiping.
>All the fiber.
>My shit is rock hard and dry.
>Developed folding method to use single ply efficiently.
>Single sheet, folded lengthwise and then folded again over fingers.
>Rarely need more than 3 single sheets per movement.
>I buy one massive roll a year from a friend who owns a restaurant.
>$20 for a whole year of poopin'.
>How much does your Charmin cost?
>Sysco's finest, more or less actual paper but it doesn't matter.
>Even in a public setting, I do not need to adapt to different types of tp.
I use about 12 sheets a week on average, but that number can fluctuate pretty heavily depending on social obligations and seasonal cuisine. Last year my high was 27 sheets in a week. I am always looking for ways to decrease costs, but short of installing a bidet I don't know how much better I can realistically do without compromising my health. But installing a bidet would increase my water consumption and that is a whole other post.

Just decide how much you want to invest and make sure you meet that goal every paycheck. I immediately invest 1/3 of every paycheck, and after subtracting 2 weeks' cost of living, whatever's left is how much I have to spend on random bullshit for the next 2 weeks. Makes decisions easy.

Honestly poeple laugh at toilet paper hoarders, but most dont have enough toilet paper themselves. The average person uses 1 roll per day. If you have a family of 4, that's 28 rolls a week. Over 100 a month. TP will be worth its weight in gold in a few months, because everyone needs it.

Fuck no. I see a millionaire here living frugally to "save money" and figured that it's no way to live. We're talking about sleeping in car when he owns two homes, working 12-16 hour days, not showering to conserve water, diy home building to save money. Nah senpai, that aint for me.

Depends on how youre being frugal, if its not buying stupid shit like eating out or buying a coffee, you can save a lot of money. But if your wasting too much ttime trying to save then youre on the wrong boat since normally that time is better spent accumulating knowledge or working which just means you can make more money than trying to save

>abundance mindset
This is it. If you get into the habit of having a scarcity mindset, it leaks into everything you do. You become way more risk averse and more hesitant to take a shot at things with a low chance for success. Asking for a raise, getting a woman's number, etc. Abundance mindset gives you the confidence that will lead to more money; it's a feedback loop.

Looking back being frugal is the reason why even when I bought multiple BTC in 2013 I spent every dime of them and didn't hold. If I had the mindset of a winner back then I would have held some. I even thought about it and my frugal-mindedness talked me out of it.

>> No.28812934

A certain level is good since a lot of frugality involves doing things yourself to save money. This can even lead to developing skills you can sell to lazy people like simple car maintenance.

>>28810246
even to the financially retarded just learning to save a portion of your money is good enough, people live within their means and adjust depending on it. if you live week to week on $1k and take 100 out to put into investments you will start living week to week at $900 without much noticeable difference, only now you are building towards something

Improving your income is a much better investment than using your willpower to save 2 fucking bucks here and there. It's much easier to save and you can save a lot more, a lot of energy that people spend being frugal would be better invested into a better paying career

It's obviously good to not live beyond your means, but saving every penny to live a subsistence lifestyle is just dumb. Everything in moderation, anon.
That said, sometimes you'll actually save money by buying the more expensive option. I have an expensive backpack I've been using for 7 years now, and I'm certain this thing is going to last me at least the rest of my life. Heck I could probably even pass it onto my kids. Much better than buying a cheapo backpack and replacing it every year or so when it inevitably rips.

If you make a lot of money no, if you don't yes. But it still depends on how you're spending your time to save money. If you hire a lawn care company for $50 but you make $30 an hour, it's probably worth it to do it yourself. On the other hand, if you make more than that, your time is probably better spent relaxing or working on improving your income.

Just depends what kind of person you are. Some people's level of frugality would drive me insane. I don't spend money like a retard but I also need some level of quality enjoyment to keep myself entertained and living life. Otherwise what's the point?

>> No.28815199

The only point in being frugal is to invest the money you save or put it into a savings account. If you're just letting your money sit there its getting devalued due to inflation and scarcity so either invest, splurge, buy assets that don't depreciate or resources.
