Alright guys so I need learn about this share dilution thing. I don't know anything about it and it's a huge gap in my knowledge. What is it? Why does it happen, how much does it effect a stock price. What does it look like? I cruise junior mining network all the time and see things like "warrant offering" and all kinds of bullshit. What is the language and vocabulary of a share dilution and what does it really mean? I'm invested in every single one of these companies. Most of them have no debt now and large cash flows. Do you think they will continue to be shitty like that?

Even companies like first majestic dilute their shares. Its the risk you accept buy buying mining company shares instead of physical knowing that the company can brrrrrr new shares at any time. They do it to raise funding that's the simple answer. Just like fiat can be created so can shares, your job as an investor is to know the risks, that's why I prefer physical first. There are also different ways to measure value like diluted earnings per share.

As for warrants I have a little understanding of them but I feel other anons can explain it better.

Usually they do it to produce the extra income required to get the company forward moving. If it sounds like a bullshit reason like what happened with aurcana lately, I say drop that shit, because it is just them being run poorly or being predatory. If a company isn't yet making money, they need to do private placements to find future drilling if they don't want to take out a loan. Dilution isn't necessarily bad if it is in the interest of furthering the company in the grand scheme of things.

There will always be a premium to pay for physical because the entire manufacturing process needs to make a profit. 10-15% on minted coins seems to be a normal premium, 5-8% seems like a sweet spot for bars.

As for when the real price of silver gets decoupled from the paper price of silver, it's anybody's guess. But we might be closer to that day now than at any point since 1980.

>>28749823
I'm not sure to be honest, I'd have to look at it. I believe taking physical delivery from PSLV requires a minimum of 10000oz, so 10x1000oz bars. That's about 280k worth of silver but probably as close to spot price as you can get right now.

Thanks guys. I really want to understand this. I just need some help going in the right direction. So what is a "private placement" and is that different from a share dilution? Is that different from a warrant offering? What are these things and how are they different? Are all of these a form of "share dilution" or is there something that is explicitly nefarious "share dilution". Also lastly, how much can this effect a stock price?

>There will always be a premium to pay for physical because the entire manufacturing process needs to make a profit. 10-15% on minted coins seems to be a normal premium, 5-8% seems like a sweet spot for bars.
>As for when the real price of silver gets decoupled from the paper price of silver, it's anybody's guess. But we might be closer to that day now than at any point since 1980.
Yeah, but the premiums right now are far from normal.
It's very rare for the physical price of silver to break past the 30$ barrier mark, and the paper price is almost at 30$ per ounce as we speak.
I don't think this is normal.

I have a few of these but wouldn't stack unless they were equal to about what a generic round is going for (based on demand its about the same)
This just proves that it's barely a premium above what street melt value is going for. Nothing wrong with stacking these if they're going for the same as a round in the fringe event a burger would want to emigrate to yurop (lol)

basically in real lay person terms a "private" placement is exactly what it sounds like. A group of private individuals or organizations invest in something through a broker or a intermediary. Such an agreement usually is in exchange for stocks or other gain during or at a later date of the agreement. Often companies issue more shares to fill these agreements but not always, if so though it can cause share dilution.

I would get a monster box of ASE's as a starter stack of you don't have one yet as a burger. Then move onto other things if you don't already have one or close to one. Just my 2c though.
Remember that a purchase of this size will get the irs' attention and then capital gains taxes become something to consider in the unfortunate event the regime continues to last and you have to sell for some reason

His question was ambiguous so I was trying to give him the perspective of both of my interpretations.
No disagreement that premiums are completely off the charts right now, 25% seems to be common. I'm glad I got in 6 weeks ago and only paid an average of 11% for my monster box of ASEs and 5% on RCM 100oz bars.

But premiums are usually nor this high.

From Google:

>What Is a Private Placement? A private placement is a sale of stock shares or bonds to pre-selected investors and institutions rather than on the open market. It is an alternative to an initial public offering (IPO) for a company seeking to raise capital for expansion.

So yes basically the shares are still diluted, just for a select few investors.

I'm not well versed enough to tell you how it affects share values, but for example if you look at the price of a stock 10 years ago versus today, you have to take into consideration the dilution of shares because a company that was trading at $10 can have the same market cap trading at $1 today if they went through a 10x share dilution.

Aurcana just did a "surprise" share dilution that didn't seem to have any good reason as their financials looked healthy already so that wasn't well received by shareholders. Stock didn't seem to suffer that much though.

It's simply an unfortunate reality of investing in cash-strapped juniors and explorers. If you want less risk of share dilution you could look for companies with big institutional investment, things Sprott owns, which are probably in better a position than startups.

Go to a reputable LCS/Bullion dealer. You may pay a bit more in premiums but if you don't know what you're doing it's a small price to pay for safety. Once you know how to shop for physical, you can look at deals in riskier places.

A warrant is essentially a phantom share that you can pay the strike price of to turn into a fully value share. They are generally offered by companies as additions to sweeten the pot for private placements, or another way for a company to finance it's operations. Warrant shares generally have a strike price higher than the current market price of a full share, and an expiration date as well. You can also trade warrants the same way you would normal shares.

You'll get a nice one every once in a while. I have about 15 nice mercs but thats out of around 2,500 ones in average condition considering some of these are over 100 years old and was used as REAL money during the great depression
Another thing you have to remember too is that coin dealers will cherry pick the nice ones out of what they will sell to you or in a bag. That's so they can sell them for even higher...there's a market for these but the market has been disrupted lately so they may be harder to find.

are you retarded? Gold's demand is jewelry and investment. Platinum utility is in essential chemical reactions as a catalyst lmao. And platinum jewelry hold a higher purity than gold. palladium is a bit of a meme but platinum has all the properties of gold that makes gold valuable (doesnt tarnish, rust etc)

fuck reserver currency lmao. gold isnt going to be reserve currency. if you think we are going backwards to mineralizing money you dont really understand the history of money and why central banks are pushing for de-materializing money by eventually getting rid of paper money.

Platinum is a commodity and is scarce. We NEED platinum for many things and until scientists can create a cheap replacement, demand is going to eat at supply shooting the price
