Neptune Wellness.

The weed drama recently had me actually doing some DD on some smaller caps in the space. Neptune Wellness caught my eye. Wanted some more insight if anyone had any. I know they're from Canada, but from what I understand they're making a big push to become US based. This includes recently relocating their HQ to Florida. They have some decent products available right now. Any Canadafags that can tell me why I shouldnt throw the rest of my money at this company? Seems way undervalued at the moment with a market cap of $362 million and a pricer per share of $2.80. 1000 shares deep @ 2.58 currently.

Wrong perspective. Dangerous too. You play the cards you're dealt with the risk tolerance you've got.

For example if oil's only got 50% upside and you take on 3x leverage through calls to "make up losses", then end up panic selling due to a transient 20% drop (magnified into 60%), you're fucked.

AQB is a long term hold. They're building their first large scale fish farm. Add to that the time it takes to raise their marketable salmon is 18 months. So we're looking at likely 2 years before we see the first product delivery.

The price will probably rise before then on news of production ramping up. I estimate Q3 or Q4 21.

AquaBounty estimates production of 50,000 metric tons of salmon by 2028. What might this translate to in terms of sales revenue? I'm no expert in salmon, so I'll just do a back of the envelope calculation off from AquaBounty's investor presentation. The global salmon market is 2.4 million metric tons, valued at $16.7 billion dollars, and, as we all know, demand for salmon will only continue to grow over the coming years.

2023 - 14,000 mt
$97.4 million ~= 14,000 m.t. / 2,400,000 m.t. * $16.7 billion

2028 - 50,000 mt
$348 million ~= 50000 m.t. / 2,400,000 m.t. * $16.7 billion

What might this translate to in terms of profit? AquaBounty's presentation gives an estimate of 29% EBITDA margin. If we naively multiply that against the figures above, that makes the stock price look good to me. Assuming a market cap of $700 million (significantly rounding up the actual current market cap), that means the current price could be roughly 25 times earnings from the 2023 harvest and just 2 times earnings from the 2028 harvest.

I can see them buying stonks but they will not hike rates, we're so far into clown market territory that doing so would crash everything. They'd rather just accept inflation

How have they not demonstrated scaling? Each farm is its own contained facility that they can plop down wherever.

AquaBounty is destined to take over the global salmon market. If we post it enough, if we really believe it, it will become true. Look at this map. In 2050 the majority of protein consumption will be derived from seafood and AquaAdvantage salmon will be the key component of the global food supply. AquaBounty will solve the greatest problems facing mankind: climate change, hunger, overpopulation. The solution is simple: a better fish and a better way to raise it.

The dollar works as the world reserve currency by us exporting financial assets instead of actual goods. Corona-chan decimated foreign corporations badly so we flooded the system with liquidity to prop up their USD asset sheets. This both allows defaulted foreign assets on our balance sheets to turn into realized gains, as well as allowing foreign countries more liquidity to buy and sell their USD assets to keep their domestic buisnesses functioning. No money has been created, we just have avoided massive losses to USD reserves for foreign countries. That's why the argument is we need inflationary currencies over deflationary ones.

So because we are the world reserve currency, foreign nations borrow money in USD, liabilities, and offset that borrowing buy buying assets, bonds stocks ect.
Mexico alone had like 170 billion USD defaults on their corporations during the middle of Corona, because the banks lent them out tons of USD. the banks count those loans as assets, the corporations and Mexican government as liabilities. So during corona basically 170 billion dollars worth of assets just vanished from the balance sheets of these banks. That money they were counting on was just now gone, the overall world economy lost 170 billion dollars. So we just papered over that hole by printing the money and putting it directly into circulation, or more realistically we gave the Mexicans liquidity lines for cheap USD to lend out to those corporations.
So we didn't "create" any money really.

Ah, I see now. Thanks. It was just a weird concept for me, because we don't really have USD-based loans in the EU. It's obviously EUR-basd, or CHF-based in the past.

It's a weird accounting trick tho, because the money given to these corpos that later defaulted didn't actually vanish, so if the banks counted it as an asset, and it physically existed somewhere as dollars, you basically count it twice? And once the company defaults you only count it once, again?
