After Avalanche has gone, exchanges have taken their damage from it and few weeks has gone, we will see extremely strict audits appearing again for the future projects.
This is going exactly like last time during previous bull run. There is always few spectacular failures during each bull run.

Is Avalanche bridge still down? If so, there might be also a grim possibility that it will not going to be opened anytime soon.

BTC had a minting error. In the case of AVAX, if you've seen the damning evidence (screenshot), you see one tx ID spend 7x. That is a double spend. If it was minted, that would require a specific contract accepted by a majority of nodes which would by consensus print new AVAX. That's not what happened. Instead, a tx was doubled seven times and because of the Cantillion effect associated with inflation, the people providing AVAX in the ETH pool lost money. Yeah it was .00001 AVAX, but that's still a loss.

A double spend is the guy keeping the money while sending it. You CAN duplicate a double spend-like situation using this error if it is reproducible, but that clearly is not the case here, especially because the issue has been addressed through a client fix.
>If it was minted, that would require a specific contract accepted by a majority of nodes which would by consensus print new AVAX. That's not what happened.

What does the bridge have to do with this issue? It went down due to the network being fucked from the Pangolin launch. Some exchanges are back up already, so exchanging ETH is not really the reason either. Please provide some reasoning this is related to the minting issue in particular.
>That's the fucking definition of minting.
Do you understand what actually happened, anon? The coins were duplicated when transferred from the X chain to the C chain. Coins were minted on the C chain. It is arguable if this even was a transaction.
>I didn't miss it you fucking midwit. And it doesn't matter. An unauthorized increase in supply corresponding to $40K dilutes the float, lowering the value of everyone's AVAX. This is basic economics.

It was a double minting. It was precisely the same error that Bitcoin had back when you couldn't fap.

But AVAX security held like a champ, even better than Bitcoin and didn't need a fork.

This basically means AVAX has delivered on its immaculate immutability promise. So what if there was a bug? Nobody was ever compromised. It functions even better than BTC in that regard.

Smart money will flood AVAX tomorrow because of this. It might be a TOP 2 coin now that it has proven itself to be more secure than ETH under heavy strain.

That is why I laughed at him and told him smart anons would never do that. Anyone smart enough to realize what AVAX is, understand the whitepaper, and grasp this "clusterfuck" as model proof of immutable security in the face of cataclysmic overload, will always HODL AVAX.

I am just trying to help you. Listen to oldfags like me who made it not once, but twice by becoming veterans of 2016 and 2017-18. I entered crypto with 15,000 dollars. Now I have more than 2.4M. All due to ETH, LINK and now AVAX. AVAX is still in LINK@ 0.5 USD stage.

Even Coin Bureau declared a conservative EOY was 450 bucks. DYOR.

MY "guess" is it was an honest rush to market that hit a major snag. I was expecting a march launch, but every few days it was a big announcement, seemed too good to be true and smelled a bit. Wow, something bad happened, in hindsight it makes perfect sense.

I mean, obviously because we have short positions open. But in the grand scheme of things, multibillion dollar platform tokens having double spend/invalid minting issues is bad for the whole industry. Bugs like this should be made front page news and the price should reflect the gravity of the situation. This is literally about as bad of a bug as you can have on a crypto platform. Ya I don't necessarily think this should be the end for avax or that it should be shorted to $0 or something, but there should be a heavy correction/consequences for rushing a product launch. Like, if first movers are allowed to just release flawed products and still maintain an advantage over companies that methodically test, research and audit their code to launch without bugs, I don't think that's the market working as intended.

If you're still bullish on avax longterm, you should buy the dip, but the significance of this bug/exploit shouldn't be understated either. Neither should avax's response.

>> No.28713635

>>28696410
No, it was an issue on crosschain transfer, I checked it myself with API calls, there is only one block with one tx in it on the X-Chain, but the minting on the C-Chain happened 7 times, so I think Emin is not lying when he said there was no double spend.

>> No.28713719

>>28713224
The market works the way the market wants to work. AVAX will still be valued higher than any ot the hypothetical vaporware things out there like ADA simply because it is, or was, operating. There is no "should correct more" simply because you want it to. If the market believes they corrected quickly enough and made the chain more robust it will moon again. Thats obviously a big "if" at the moment and the signs arent good - my personal bet is that they do - which is why I am buying more now but I accept its a gamble. Yours is that they wont - which is fair - which is why you short it. Both are fair, acceptable positions. You need to take your emotion out of it and try and stop thinking the market "should" act in a certain way. Thats not how markets work.
