Im going to buy a doggo with my crypto earnings this year. Will this make me feel better?

Unironicly yes.

>> No.28620356

Yes a dog will love you unconditionally and be a loyal companion.

>> No.28620358

It probably will. The best things about a dog is that the dog is always happy to see you. Doesn’t matter what kind of day you had, that dog is going to run up to you and be excited that you’re around.

get a nice purebreed from a well-renowned breeder. Something that has been bred for hundreds of years by your ancestors to have certain characteristics. Not some mutt which could have anything in it (like pitbull) and is bound to be traumatised and have behavioural problems.

anti-cats will bash you but you are correct. The people saying their cats hid under the bed or was aggressive or knocked stuff over are just bad pet owners and need something easy as a dog. If you raise the cat or even adopt an older one and are around them a lot they will become a good companion. Sleeping near you, following you sometimes, stretching, yawning, killing any bugs or rodents, peaceful, calm. Your cat is a reflection of yourself and are only for patrician pet owners.

Are you ready to take care of a dog for the rest of it's life? Feeding, exercise, training, play, cleanups, grooming, checkups?

if you are not and purchase a dog anyway, you're no better than a nigger with an abused pitbull.

If you are ready to get a good dog, consider adopting first. If you are looking for a specific breed, find a reputable breeder with a good history.

A dog will change your life and make you fell a million times better.

I am on my fourth German shepherd since I was a kid. It's my first female. She knows when I get angry or agitated and will place her head against my chest to tell me to calm the fuck down. Just her act alone calms me down and petting your dog will help you sleep better.

Life sucks without a good dog around. My dog guards the house, protects the kids and keeps me in check.

Good luck. Know the breed and what you are getting into. Some breeds will destroy your life and end up in the pound because you were a fucking tool that didn't dyor.

Good luck.

such a stupid reddit tier take. nothing wrong with getting the breed you want. shelters are 90% pit facemunchers. you can maybe get lucky with a lab/shepherd mix there but it'll probably have behavior issues. do research into dog breeds and get one that fits your life. purebreds have genetic health issues but most are manageable. if you're that fixated on "saving" a dog you can do that through a breed specific rescue org

Yes. In addition to what other people have said, make sure you're honest with yourself about what kind of energy level you want your dog to have. Do you want them to be very energetic and play with them for a couple hours a day? Or do you want something lazy?

I for instance am extremely lazy, so I picked a greyhound, which are actually very lazy and only require one good 20-30 min walk a day, although it's good to get into a sprint every once in a while.

Tldr, make sure you and your dog's energy levels match. Also I recommend greyhounds, they're nice dogs.

You can definitely leave your dog home alone. Although it’s anecdotal, I do not work from home and my dog is fine being alone. Toys and a comfy place to snooze help. If you get a puppy you’ve got to ease it into being alone. Easy to do if you work from home. Work in a room with the door closed for a couple of hours, periodically check on the dog. When you are no longer able to work from home and your dog is used to your company it starts to feel separation anxiety

Stopped reading through the posts when the nasty dog sex people showed up.
But yeah anon you should definitely get a dog. Get a medium sized cute type dog. I have a beagle terrier mix that's about 30 lbs. He's really friendly and everyone loves him. They're also good for socializing. When you're a guy walking down the street alone by yourself maybe you're you're a threatening weirdo. But when you're a guy walking a dog down the street everyone wants to stop and chat and pet your dog. I take my dog camping, it's better than going alone. And when you bring him to a dog park women will chat with you.
It will help you be less lonely around the house. If you talk to him a lot he'll get really smart and start to understand things that you say. And he'll do cute and funny things all the time and you can pet him if you're sad. It also gets me out of the house to take him for walks and outings and stuff which is good because I hardly ever would leave the house if I didn't have to go out.
I got my dog for free, some farmer had a bunch of puppies he found on his property and they were going to drown them all if they couldn't give them away. I wasn't planning on getting a dog but I didn't want him to get drowned so I took him home. You can get one for cheap from a rescue if you don't to pay a bunch of money for one.

Yes sir. Getting my dog was the best thing I have ever done for my health. It's anti-autism treatment. It's a commitment, and it's a bit expensive but it is absolutely worth it. There is something with your subconscious about it that fulfills a very basic human need. I work from home and have no family nearby and no friends. I go weeks between in person human conversations and for some reason no amount of zoom calls made me feel less lonely, but getting a dog practically fixed my brain. Get a dog anon.
Dogs make you wake up earlier and will get you outside every day, and when you have a dog with you people are more friendly to you and will try to start conversations randomly on walks. Plus they have no concept of if you're having a major life catastrophe or are severely depressed and will continue being goofy and playful and cute all the time so when you're having a bad day they they often cheer you up by doing something funny or trying to get you to play fetch, etc, when humans would probably just say "damn that sucks bro" and give you your space.

My top 3 tips are to get pet insurance (so you don't have to randomly shell out 2-5k when he eats a sock), use healthy treats like chicken when you're trying to teach it tricks rather than junk food ones, and make sure you go for a walk every day.

maybe but remember a dog is a big commitment.
Its not just sunshine and rainbows, it's like owning a child. They can get sick, shit, tear things up etc. I love dogs, but I wont get a dog until I have a house with a backyard. Apartment living with dogs is fucked, and I feel bad for the dogs as well. If you're in an apartment, get a cat. If you're a house owner, go dog mode. Or go both if you get a dormant breed of dog. My mate has both, but he has a choc. lab and a small cat and the cat basically lives in fear all the time because he always tries to get her.

Well, larger dogs are better if you don't have a yard because smaller dogs can't hold it that long. Typically an adult large dog can, but getting a dog walker to come in the middle of the day might work if you have the money for it. Or you could take it to a dog daycare, but again it's a bit expensive. If you have a yard that would also work. Mentally, I think it would be ok but it depends on the dog. Dogs (or at least mine) sleep up to 14 hours a day and spend lots of time resting. Some dogs are clingy (huskies are notoriously social and need to be with people or dogs all day) and others are fine doing their own thing. As long as you give them a walk before and after work, leave them with interesting toys/chews to keep them occupied when you leave and spend some time playing with them every day it should be fine. From the dog training classes I've taken with my dog I'll say the most challenging breeds for a starter dog are ones that are purebred and typically have a job like malinois, huskies, GSDs, aussies, cattle dogs, and pitbulls. The easiest seem to be labs (although they eat EVERYTHING), golden retrievers, mutts, any sighthound, and poodles.

I have buns. Theyre not as smart as dogs but their stupidness is kind of charming in a way. Plus they're super cute and soft. The black one is pretty cunning and intelligent as far as rabbits go, the grey one is... about what you'd expect lol. But he's only 2 years old vs 5.5 years old. You don't have to get one from the pound, in fact I completely discourage it especially if you have kids but mostly based on ethics. If you want a true loyal companion, look for ads of people giving away puppies, they won't be fucked up, you'll know everything about (at least) the mother and its quirks and you're guaranteed it won't have a fucked up psyche from being abused. Plus, you'll be companions for life and you'll save it from being abandoned, captured and sterilized.

bruh cats are 100x easier than dogs. with a cat all u do i clean a litter box, keep food and water out and they are self sufficient besides that. with dogs you have to constantly play with them, take them outside, etc. a lot more work. you could leave a cat alone for a week with enough food and water and itd be fine but the dog would be fucked

my first dog I got from a breeder at 12 weeks. good dog but it had SIBO and digestive problems. For years I cleaned explosive shits. My ex took that dog.
So I went to the proud and got myself a 6mo german shepherd. I was able to watch it shit before I took it, cuz I was worried about SIBO. Anyways, dog turned out great. Healthy, handsome, well trained dog
Moral of the story, some breeders are shit and sell bad genetics. these problem surface after you take the dog home. dog pound dogs are a safer bet because they come with a meical report, developed enough to see temperment, can observe them socialize, know whether it barks..etc

I love dogs but having one where I live would be a pain in the ass since I live in a huge city in China and a small apartment. I found this kitten when she was about 2 weeks old outside of a KFC and took her home and raised her. She's been a great friend to me and never makes trouble and always listens to my commands. She's 4 years old now.

Not necessarily a cat or dog person I just like all kinds of animals.

Make sure you do your DD on breeders. Don't just go for the cheapest craigslists whatever, you know, puppy mill shit. You'll get an inbred retard with health issues out the wazoo. Always ask about health, genetics, stuff, if they say nothing more than "the vet says they're good" run, don't walk, away. Don't let the rescue-only people sway you, nothing wrong with wanting a genetically sound, even-tempered, true-to-breed pup. Whatever that breed will be for you. Good luck with your new best friend!

My dog is super smart and he knows a lot of cool tricks like if you make a finger gun at him and say bang he'll fall over like he's dead. He can roll over, sit, stay and do a little dance. He can also bring you things if he knows the word for it like his leash and stuff. I tried to teach him to fetch me a beer but they don't really fit in his mouth and now he knows how to open the refrigerator so I have to put a child safety lock on it when I'm not home. :-/
We have a bunch of snow right now and he made a little tunnel in a snow bank and he likes to hide in it. When I go to let him in he waits until I call a few times and then pops out of the top in a real dramatic way. If I act like I can't find him he gets real pleased with himself like he tricked me good.
Also you can put outfits on him like hats and sunglasses and bandanas and stuff and he will just wear them around.
Not really cute I guess but I live in the country and he's good at catching varmints too.
