There is a lot to consider when estimating value. Company financials and assets are a good place to start, they might have a lot of cash or they might own shares from other companies for example, or they might have debt of course. Search SEDAR on a company board at ceo.ca and you'll find the financial reports as well as MD&A reports where they might go over some of the more relevant history of the company. Then there is the value of the mining assets, which usually requires some speculation and forward thinking. You should be able to get a feel for it in time. Also when there are preliminary economic assessments, feasibility studies or mineral resource estimates you should be able to make some back-of-the-letter calculations that can help you estimate the deposit's value in relation to the company's market cap or enterprise value.

An important thing you get with time and some experience in different miners is the ability to compare different companies. If there's a company that's trading at C$50M market cap and has 20Moz silver in their deposit, that one is probably more expensive than one that has similar resources and is trading at C$20M market cap. Although obviously you have to consider a multitude of things like the jurisdiction, the size of the property, future exploration potential, share structure, management, ore grade, regional infrastructure etc. It's not always clear-cut what is the "best" investment.

Oh and don't take everything said by ceo.ca posters as fact, everybody is almost always bullish on their own favorite stocks of course. But consider people's opinions, be critical and ask questions.

This is my silver so far. Its been about two months and im feeling good about the money I was able to save. So this next stimulus ill be buying more silver, maybe $400 and save the rest for other precious metal. My question is, should I get gold with the $400 or silver or maybe something else? what about mercury dimes for $400 worth? by the way does ampex presearch their coins? for example if iw anted to get a coin from them would their rolls all be pre searched by them or is there really a chance of me finding something rare?

It’s a 1950’s hand auger (25mm) that sells for £20-25 new from China nowadays due to the bushcraft phenomenon on YouTube. I bought it as part of this job lot for £11.50+£6 postage is t something. Guys, I googled local coin stores near me cause I wanted to buy an AGE with cash. It looked like a fancy AF jewelry store, with lots of people assaying stuff working behind the counter, and there was a police cruiser parked in the parking lot - looked like it's constantly there. I asked one of the clerks how much a 2021 AGE would be, and he said they didn't have any and wouldn't be able to place any orders for some. Basically, SOL.
I want to try to check other stores in the area this weekend, but it's Valentine's and my gf expects me to spend time with her all weekend.

When shtf and you're forced to travel for whatever reason how do you make sure your stack of junk silver doesn't jangle around give your position away / give the fact that you're wealthy away in the case of somewhat friendly interactions? With bullion it's easy to alternate pieces between a large piece of cloth so they're never in a position to clink against each other but it seems much more difficult to keep a bag full of mercs from making noise.

If you plan on sticking around for the apocalypse you're probably right.

Personally I think a better plan is exit/escape to calmer waters, or assuming a barter market apocalypse scenario isn't even going to happen really.

Personally, for me, my plan A would be reselling through ebay or some other platform, I have a lot of experience selling on ebay, basically full-time. I know how to get top dollar for rare items, and wealthy people only really want rarity, they don't want generic bullion, at all. They want extremely rare old coins, or big ticket bars.

So for me antique coins are a great option, but everyone's situation is different, you need to consider how you will sell/trade & who you will sell to.

Personally I think mercury dimes are the best value in silver for the small to medium stack.
When your stack gets large you are going to want to start buying 100oz bar just to avoid fiddling around.
Maybe even 1000oz bars at some point but I havnt gotten there yet.
But yea until your stack gets big, the mercs are the way to go.
Look at it this way, they are more divisible than any other product just about.
Which gives them additional utility.
But if you were to try to manufacture coins that size in modern times they would carry an astronomical premium to get that extra utility,
With mercs you get it for free just about!

Local Coin Shop.
Try to research the history of your currency. At some point in time people paid with silver and gold, and that's the stuff that you should look to collect. Your government may still be minting silver and gold (commemorative) coins, they may also be of interest.
In my country VAT (20% tax) is only on silver bars, not coins. That's why I mostly have old coins from local coin shops because they're the best option economically. The situation in your country may be different, but do your own research is my main point. That's part of the fun I would say, learning the history, discovering the market, and such.

you're pretty new to coins so I'll humor you. Lots of copies and restrikes have been made over the years that ARE NOT rounds or commemoratives.

many of these copies and restrikes have been struck in precious metals. It is entirely possible that his copies are gold. Hundreds of thousands of such coins have been struck beginning in the 1970's and peaking in sales in the 80's.

not everything was made in the last 12 years. You were, but not everything else.

Precious metals hedge against a lot of types of market crashes/problems. In a lot of those situations precious metals would absorb enough of the capital outflows that even a meager 10% allocation would rise fast enough to outpace the losses in the other 90% of your portfolio.
So maybe you have 10,000 in gold and 100,000 in stonks.
In a stonkmarket crash your stonks might go from 100,000 down to 10,000 but your 10,000 gold would probably go to more than 100,000.
So that lets you capitalize from a rapidly rising stock market without living in fear of the crash that comes from those sorts of blow off top events.

You should always check the value of the metal, by calculating the pure content (%) of the object and multiplying that weight to the current silver price. That's the real value (spot price) and the trick is to find deals that come close to it or below it. You can look up current price per gram/ounce and check for yourself. I use bullionbypost.eu for that. For me, the second hand market as well as auctions are the place to find the best deals, but often a LCS will offer good deals as well. For example if I spend a certain amount of money he gives away some nice stuff. But especially small lesser known coin shops in my experience have good deals and low prices. Make sure that whatever you do they're reliable. A scam is never far away in this world.

basically PMs are a short-term hedge against a crash. So if you look at gold after 2008 it had a big rise and then leveled out.

If you're more sophisticated and understand we are headed towards a sort of Doldrums then you want to invest in something like Berkshire stock which is small growth but able to withstand either the ups or downs of the market.

PMs are basically speculative, where you see crypto coins in a bull market gaining price, you'll see PMs in a bear market gaining price although not as much.

/pol/ is an dead end. its' a means for political discovery, and little more. the greatest mistake one can make on /pol/ is to allow themselves to be anchored to it. it is simply a launching platform. a realm where ones eyes are finally opened to truth and possibility that has been hidden from you your whole life. its magnetism can suck you into a blackhole and its force can be very difficult to escape.

from /pol/ one should transition to /biz/ and /fit/(in the metaphorical sense, theres little utility to spending large sums of your time on forums). The biggest takeaway from /pol/ should be the philosophy of self improvement.

I like silver and gold cause I hate banks. As much as I don't want the "financial collapse" to happen its on its way. I am lucky enough to have a surplus of food, water, ammo and seeds. I'll trade for other goods and PMs but defiantly not crypto. If we bring back an asteroid in my life time I'll sell when the mission starts or it starts to tank. If nothing happens then ill burry my gold and silver and make the kids hunt for it on the property lol.

I figure, Crypto is non tangible currency, backed by a failing fiat no longer backed by real money (gold and silver)

I'm lucky enough to have land, and means to produce food and access to plenty of rivers/streems/lakes for water. Ammo and other things I can trade. If 2 people are trying to trade with me and one has silver and the other has crypto Imma sell to the guy with real coin/metal.
1 How am I going to receive the crypto?
2 Why would I waste power from my generator to get a raido/wifi signal up to transfer the funds he totally has when I could save power, time, effort and supplies to just wait for something real.

This is a true "new paradigm" that we're heading into, except unlike the chart there has been no bubble yet and it won't be a bubble when fiat does collapse. Fake money (fiat) is on the way out and real money is shifting back into its rightful place after being off the gold standard for 50 years since 1971 (officially)

3 ounces of Silver today can sustain a family of four for a month in Venezuela, somewhat comfortably.

145oz of Silver now would last you 4 years in that situation.

I can't imagine the secure feeling of owning a neat chunk of land with lakes and rivers, means to produce food and defend it. Sounds like luxury, anon. I don't even know how to use a generator or filter river water so that makes me feel doomed, but It's still nice to dream.

The best advice for silver is super ez and simple.

Find a locally owned pawn/coin shop and befriend the owner. I stop in to this one shop down the street owned by this boomer retired Marine. We shoot the shit about guns and our mutual hatred of commies, but he sells me silver just over spot and sometimes under. I stopped by 2 days ago and he only had 2.5 oz that I paid $$72 for. Slow and steady wins the race. And if it all comes crumbling down before then hope you have some guns brother, keep your head on a swivel and never expose your bag.

You sound like a city slicker, lol jk jk but really. The wife and I moved from CA to Northern AZ and shit is affordable and just fuckin nice. We are blessed with family land we could fall back to if it ever got that serious not far from where we are now. We are still saving for our own land near the property but I keep a decent portion in silver.

I bartend/manage a local bar and my wife serves at an upscale eatery both full time and we have a couple of side hustles. All the money from our "jobs goes to the bank" and everything from the side stuff that doesn't go back in to the hustle we put in silver.
