Anons I basically live in hotels because of my job. I travel about 300 nights a year. Could I made some decent side cash by building a portable mining rig and setting it up in the hotel and get free electricity?
Because of my airline status I get 3 free checked bags and right now I only use two, so I could get a nice hardcase with padding inside to transport my rig.
Then I just plug it in at the hotel and let it mine 24 hours a day for the next 14 days before I go to my next job.

Unless you live in a college dorm with a flat rate rolled into your room&board, in which case go for it.

From what I understand, the current ridiculous prices for GPUs don't really have anything to do with crypto. It's really because of supply chain issues stemming from memevirus lockdowns, as well as tariff exceptions for GPUs expiring in January. I buy a graphics card and mine with it when i'm not using it. Eventually, it just pays for a GPU upgrade about a year later.

I live in cheap Airbnbs ($700/mo or less) and bring a small rig around my backpack. Nobody has noticed their electricity bill go up yet. Literally rent free.

That’s why you over/under clock, add decent heat sinks/pastes and ventilate. Spent $12 on heat sinks to cover the mem chips that are properly cooled on my 3080, under clocked GPU, over clocked the memory, optimized airflow and it never breaks 55C hashing constantly when I’m not gaming.

If you do not exceed maximum temperatures of the components (around 90 celsius for GPU die, and 100-110 for VRMs), then your hardware will be fine. More stress is exerted on the hardware when temperatures fluctuate than when they are at a constant high.

Fuck the nay sayers OP. Try it for as month and if it's not worth it stop. I've been mining for two weeks and already have $320+. I'll hit my .35 ETH(~$600) before the month is over.

Wait a minute, an RTX 3080 is $1000. If I buy 30 3080s I can make $300 a day on eth $100,000 a year, holy motherfucking shit why did nobody tell me this. I have enough money to do this now if only I could get my hands on that many. Hell I can just buy a shitload of pre-builts and it would still be worth it

Basically mining is so good, that supposedly Nvidia sold GPUs directly to the miners, but i also readed that the distributors themselves opened the mining farms themselves and just simply say "oops, we got no cards left" which i think is much more certain.

I know you are joking but if anyone thinks of trying to GPU mine doge: don't. Doge uses Scrypt algo which is dominated by ASICs pretty much exclusively. You won't earn shit with a GPU.
