28479346 No.28479346 [Reply] [Original]

I don’t have the fortitude or courage to invest in anything. I transferred 50k to Robinhood over a week ago and I haven’t bought a single thing. I kept thinking the crypto pump was over so I didn’t move it to Coinbase, but I probably wouldn’t have bought anything there either.

I have asked multiple times on this board (can’t find an archive site to search through to find them) as well as on /tv/ because I like those guys, you can find me asking as far back as August and you can see my bank account grow with each post.

https://archive.4plebs.org/tv/thread/138242587/#138242587

https://archive.4plebs.org/tv/thread/145545840/#145545840

I even asked them a couple weeks ago and I don’t even remember it. You can see multiple people in those threads giving me good advice, yet I’m too cowardly and low IQ to go through with it. I have such low self esteem that if I lose anything I now my depression will get so bad I won’t get out of bed.

I can’t go on living like a fucking loser, I need some wise words of guidance or something, I am wasting my life. Please don’t mock me too hard, I’m already extremely down in every sphere of life. I would appreciate if you said a prayer for me or something, I can’t believe I’m such a worthless fucking loser.

Start hanging out in SMG threads and just paper trade (write down stuff you would consider and follow it a few days to see if you gain/lose) and learn some things. Then when you feel somewhat more confident start investing into shares with $100 at a time. Ramp up as you get more confident.

Your conscientious and risk averse, its your personality and it will probably serve you well in the long run.

Many people who take these investment risks are risky in all sorts of areas in their life, and usually it catches up to them in very bad ways. Speeding accidents, infidelity that ruins marriage and kids life, addiction to drugs/drinking, a bet that they lose it all on, emotional moodswings.

NOW FOR SOME OTHER GUIDANCE

You can always buy big name stocks that pay 5-8% dividends and dont/wont change price much. like
>ATT
>IBM
>Altria
>Most of the dow stocks

Whats important is that you exercise everyday and work on something everyday you care about like music, gardening, artwork, playing in a vidya league.

You better sack up. Inflation is here, and it’s going to get worse thanks to the FED printing. You need to make 3% right not just to preserve what you have. It’s going to get worse over the next 3-15 years, to the point where you’ll probably need a 10% or maybe more just to preserve your wealth.

Stock averages +10%/year. Just don't put all your eggs in one basket, stay the fuck away from meme stocks and penny stocks, and regularly prune frequent losers to raise your monthly gains. And last but not least, buy low, sell high.
Don't waste your time trying to find stocks that are going to moon; it's a rare occurrence, and it's more likely that you'll buy the top and end up holding the bag. It's safer to just trade. Those tiny +1%ers add up. (Note: you need 0-commission trading for this to work unless you're trading batches of $1k worth of stock at a time.)

You'll have to stop the negative self talk, you build your inner voice and thinking behaviours through repetition so start using neutral or positive self talk, thinking and speaking habits. It doesn't matter if you mean it or not, do it by rote, like working out. Invest a few hundred of that into something that interests you and you'll start to learn the psychological processes of investing and trading. you have to practice and learn all the goings on by doing it and like anything you dont jump in the deep end you start out at your appropriate level. Go to the fucking gym and get a fucking spine before you start investing. I mean this entirely seriously. Take that 50k, dump it in something safe to grow until you can hang with people that have a set of balls.

I want you to make it son, but investing when you're still in complete bitch mode means you'll lose everything to a panic sell. I don't want that to happen to you.

>> No.28481935

Just cuz u put in 50k doesn’t mean you have to invest it all. Maybe dip your toes in with 1-2. Or, do trading with pretend money for awhile to see how you’d do. Chart your ups and downs and shit.

>> No.28482205

Why the hell did you put in 50k on your first go round?
Shit. Whatever.
You got two choices as far as I can tell. I suggest you start with the one that scares you the most.
Start with a single share that you hold for a specific period of time, looking for a specific profit (or near), or go all in on something and take the risk that you lose it.

The hardest part about trading is getting over losing. Once you learn how to take a loss in stride, it can be much simpler. But the next hardest part is knowing when you shouldn't sell, because you're being shook out. And if you can't tell the difference, 50k is not a small place to start.
Whatever the fuck you do, never put in money you cannot afford to lose.
Do not put your kid's college account in here, unless you can lose that money and still have a plan.

Think of it like this anon, every day you don't invest your lossing money. I don't mean just potential money from gains, but inflation is a thing and probably now more than ever. Keeping your money liquid like that is a risky move in itself.

Other than that just treat it like a piggy bank, invest this much at this time regardless of the market and just let it sit, following a habit like that will ease off the burden of choice.

don't focus on investing $50k at once. presumably you have expenses in your daily life, seeing as you wagecuck and all. start putting the amount of money you'd be comfortable losing into a stock. be it $100, $20 or even a single dollar
then see how you feel next week
maybe you'll get gains and want to put another dollar, then $10, then $50
there is no point in investing if it is stressful for you, so you want to make it something you don't sweat

You don’t need to invest all of it. Invest like 1000 in a stock that shows predictable trends, like FLGT. Toy around with the money.

A lot of $$$ is made in the market, but remember, the people who lose it are generally “get rich quick, overly emotional” types. Trends tend to repeat themselves, and this is a game. It’s a game of thinking wether a stock goes up or down, and volume and MACD is there to help you figure it out. And Japanese candle stick investing. Just be simple though.

The majority of people aren't satisfied with +20% because they don't understand how compounding interest works. They want instant money, so they see their GME shares are up 100% today and say, it's not enough, I want more! And then it tanks to $50 even though they bought in at $150.
>no need to even diversify
This is usually a bad idea. A bad trade could wipe out your gains, or at least set you way back and waste your time. Even if you've got just 10 stocks (ideally in different sectors) it's better than 1.

And to be honest, you don't even need +20% to become a millionaire. A mere +5% every trade will take you from $1k to $1M after 142 successful trades (just make sure your broker doesn't charge commissions before you try this.)
