I was watching an interview with some finance guy trying and failing to explain the GameStop situation and I realized why he does not and cannot "get it". Quite simply, wallstreetbets and the wider longtail retail traders of which /smg/ is a part, is become an emergent collective intelligence, a massively distributed trading entity. Something completely new, a Deus Ex Machina character.
