I was taught to remember it by bulls horns pointing up and bears claws pointing down.

Bull market is when there is investor enthusiasm. This drives prices of things like stocks and crypto up. When there is fear or uncertainty about what the future will look like (Ex. possible trade wars, massive debt by governments, etc...) then prices of things will go down.

Hedging is when you take assets that usually grow slowly or shrink during good times and buy them up during bad times (Ex. gold tends to do well during bad times but do poorly whenever the economy starts doing well again).

Crypto investors assume that bitcoin is a hedge against the US dollar, but this has proven untrue, as generally it tends to go down when markets are bad and up when markets are good. Hypothetically, it should behave more like a hedge and probably will more in time as its chart rounds off and starts trading within a range, but for now, Wall St. shlomos speculate on it, driving the price way up and way down.
