very true, redditors can't seem to comprehend the difference between squeezing a short seller who got in at $4 vs. one who got in at $450, it's all the same "shares as % of float" number to them

you can't "just exit your short positions". you need to buy to cover. if they "exited their short positions" near the top, they'd be causing the price to spike higher and trigger the shortsqueeze themselves.

dno if shills or low iq but all these posts look the same so I figure you're paid

does it pay well?

well I mean, they might actually have a point if short interest was still 140% and GME was holding at around $200-300, but ya lol, they really really dont get that market conditions change, and there were other much bigger hedge funds absolutely fucking salivating at the chance of opening short positions over $100 (regardless of if there's a 30% tax on them).

In that site's defense, at least they have a really detailed disclaimer saying if you dont know how stocks work, you shouldn't be buying this shit. But ya, its entered cult-territory now, and you can't reason with brainwashed cult members (regardless of if they brainwashed themselves). They're just going to have to learn an expensive lesson

also, they pretty much went bankrupt and lost billions of dollars. You dont think they could get a loan to open new positions, or get a lot more leeway with margin calls than you average person? You think its a coincidence they just stopped talking about their positions, lol? How is the short interest at like 48% if they either didn't cover or go bankrupt?

Also, as said, this is one relatively small, inconsequential hedge fund in a sea of many. You weren't sticking it to wall street, you were just giving other hedge funds your money, lol

>they might actually have a point if short interest was still 140%
It is. There was no way to cover that fast. 122% to 53.5% in a single day And the share price went down by over 30% while retail statistics were over 70/30 buy/sell and big institutions did not sell. Literally impossible.

Anyone denying naked sells, share counterfeiting and so on to hide true short is a confirmed shill or a fucking psychopath messing with people. It's as clear as 2 + 2 = 4

Even before that date, the 1st of february, all the way back in december, they had persistent 1-2% of float as failed to deliver. That's insane. It indicates that even back then when short % of float was over 200%, they had a 10-40% hidden short. The hidden short now must be massive.

>How is the short interest at like 48% if they either didn't cover or go bankrupt?
Naked sells you fucking dumb shit. The failures to deliver proves they've been doing it since december.

True short % is likely in the 150-350% range. It's impossible to know how much, but it's possible to estimate it's higher than when it was 122%.
>also, they pretty much went bankrupt and lost billions of dollars.
It wasn't only melvin you dunce. you think citadel would bail them out and brokers and clearing houses would fuck over retail to halt the squeeze if it was only melvin? you think nearly the entire finance media would collude to try to paint WSB as the bad guys and scare people to sell if it was only melvin?

no you don't, because you don't even believe what you say

You do understand that with just 1 stock you can go well over 100% by shorting that singld stock between your own companies over and over, right anon?

Feels good to have heard about this in September and sold almost near the top. Feels good to watch a bunch of greedy retarded faggots have to play conspiracy theory for the next year because they were Johnny come latelies after the profit takers moved on.

Yes but you would be effectively net 0 shares short/long to 1 share long. All it would do is make others think there is higher short interest than it is. There is no incentive for this unless you are on the long side, at least when it comes to GME. The short side doing something like this would be despite it inflating public short interest. For example it could be used as a wash trading technique (with more than 1 share at a time obviously) that's a little less obvious than simply selling and buying back and forth.

If you have the stonk in company A, borrow it with company B, then sell it (shorting), you would need to buy it again with one of your companies in order to borrow it again to another of your companies to short it. For example, B buys 1 share. You are now net 1 long. The share is borrowed from company A by company B, which shortsells it. You are now net 0. Company A then has to buy the share when company B shorts(sells), or you can't throw the share back and forth anymore. At that point, you're back to net 1 long. You ping-pong between net 0 and net 1 long like that for eternity.
