Time has value. Waiting 30 years for an investment to 2x is not worth it. It might be difficult/impossible to time the market but that doesn't mean you should sit on the sidelines while the action is happening.

im a new fren. does DCA'ing mean spending the same amount each time (leading to partial shares) or paying the full cost of the share each time ?

>> No.28198981

>>28198754
The former. That way, you end up with an average buy-in that is skewed toward the lower end (since you're buying more stock at the lower prices and less at the higher ones).

You do know that for most folks, sucking a dick is a huge favor, right? Even if the girl says she loves it, even if she says she loves being deepthroat facefucked, it's still a massive favor, and she only enjoys it in the sense that she gets off on being dominated. Physically it is the antithesis of pleasure. If you do not understand this, you are mentally retarded and should be killed, along with the other room temp IQ niggers.

Yes, I wish I could say this to my friend who was smart enough to know about crypto for years but keeps doing absolutely retarded mistakes like making bad swing trades with his whole stack then getting mad and selling all of it. He had a bunch of ETH around $200 this year but sold later around $400 after wrecking a lot of his profits with shitcoin swing trades on Coinbase pro. Now he’s getting more priced out by the moment but keeps trying to cope by saying he’s looking for a better position before entering back in. I tell him that yes it’s possible that BTC and ETH will drop lower by next year, why would you want to miss out on 3-10x gains in the meantime? It’s like saying “Damn, I missed out on a 10x so fuck it I don’t even want a 5x.” Don’t be like my friend. Time in the market > timing the market. He is going to want to rope later this year when he sees BTC over 100k and ETH over 10k, I feel bad for him but I tried to tell him this numerous times in various ways and even told him my bullish price prediction for 2021 all the way back in early 2020 that’s playing out pretty accurately right now. He’s letting the greed of timing the market perfectly affect his potential gains not to mention can’t seem to swallow his pride and just buy back in even after it’s made pretty obvious the train isn’t stopping anytime soon with all the recent news

Sorry that ended up being a vent more than anything. I was just looking forward to celebrating with my friend when we made it later this year but now it’s a bitter topic to even bring up crypto anymore as I know he’s priced out.

oh i totally agree with this.
which is why you have to dominate them. women require this feeling. as you said, no one would actually enjoy the feeling of getting facefucked. But women just love when a man is aggressive and takes full control.
its in their DNA. which is a plus for us, because if you understand this, then you can brutally throatfuck 90% of women

The vast majority of my savings are in ETFs, I understand and acknowledge their value. That said, 8% YoY gains aren't going to allow you to make it unless you're already in the 1% of earners. You need to have a significant amount of money before those ETFs will start paying off, and in most cases your only options are waging or making riskier plays.

I disagree, you should absolutely time your entry and exit even if you plan to hold long term. Just learning basic charting will help enormously. Buying into something that is bumping up against but not breaking through a decade long resistance level is a bad idea. You may find yourself still upside-down 10 years later. Getting positioned just after coming off a retest of a long term support level is a much safer move. People who bought gold and silver 10 years ago are still holding their bags. The Japanese stock market (Nekkei) is only now this year in the green for people who bought in the early 90s. Thirty fucking years. Do you think they agree that time in the market beats timing the market?

Like every truism, it's not 100% one way or the other.
Time generally is a rising tide in the market, but ask people who were set to retire in 2009 about how that worked out for them. "Buy the dip" wouldn't be a saying if timing the market didn't have value.
But trying to time the market recklessly will absolutely destroy you, yeah. And if you're that kind of investor - ie, a dumb or inexperienced one - then just buy ETFs and go back to earning your keep in your wage cage.

it's not really true for cyclicals (like crypto). those you buy in the long bear market and wait for crazy highs in a bull market. if you miss it it then your waiting a long time and suffering 75% +drop. with alts its often 98%+ drop and never comes close to ath again.

Well yeah it is as long as you make the right calls which you won't always do. To me the best long hold strategy is to make the fewest trades possible. That means fewer decisions which means better, more well-researched decisions. Only buy when you're sure you're at the cycle bottom (and use a stop loss) and only sell when you're sure you're at a cycle top, and I'm talking long term primary trends. Use lots of indicators, like for S&P 500 I use 50 day and 200 day convergence divergence, global liquidity -see pic, 10 year minus 2 year bonds chart and other indicators.
Bitcoin is so easy, the price follows a clear 4 year cycle due to the halving. Buy low, sell high. The high will be somewhere between September and January.
