1Dash Update! The site is back up again!
>wtf is 1dash?
1Dash.net is a website I'm working on, with crypto related data, in which *you* decide what data you want to see and how you want to see them. You can rearrange and resize your layout with drag&drop

This is a bugfix/UI update.
There were inconsistencies with how chart data was displayed, so It needed a fix. Now you'll see all the chart data in realtime, with YOUR local timezone. I had to recreate the mintpal dataset, hence the downtime.
Please note that Swisscex data isn't updated as often as MintPal, so the blue lines might lag behind.
Since I was fiddling with that part of the site, I added some UI sugar to the charts (alternating bars, axes are labeled 0.000000x and such).

As always, please let me know if something is wrong.

What anon said. Despite what people say it was bad for price. However, in the long term, it will keep transaction speeds fast and might contribute to keeping the currency popular.

If someone is making money on a bot, they aren't going to give it out. And if they do, whatever profit 1 person was making will get spread around until it's not worth it due to fees or bid/ask spread.

We are up 20% for the day btw.

>> No.281303

>>281291
Yes, that argument is just stupid.

DOGE inflation will be mere 0,0005%.
EUR inflation is (artificially) kept around 2%.

I don't mean to be negative, but let's present correct information to random anons browsing. The original block reward pattern will end after 100 billion Dogecoins are mined.

After that, approximately 5 billion DOGE will be mined a year. During the first year (after original mining run), this represents 5% of all Dogecoins in existence. All factors constant, this is 5% (.05) inflation / loss in value.

The things people tend to forget are that:
>5% isn't shit
>every year, 5 billion will be a smaller % of the total number of DOGE in existence, thus inflation will be less than 5% / year in subsequent years
>if, 5 bil doggie coins are, in fact, lost every year, than this just keeps the number constant
>supports transaction speeds

Yea, it makes DOGE less rare than BTC, but it already was less rare as is, considering that only 21 mil BTC are mined over a much longer time frame than the 100 billion DOGE.

>> No.281364

>>281359

Also, let me explain "loss in value" for those who don't know what I am talking about, because it sounds scary. I mean from inflation, not overall.

For example, we are in an inflationary climate for DOGE right now, far more so than 5% a year, and we just went up 20%.

In the end, value depends predominantly on how many people use and trust the coin.

Turns out that PoS is doable after all. Going full PoS will be easier compared to having it split between PoW and PoS.
I need some opinions on both options before going forward.

I am not really sure what you are talking about. Inflation in crypto generally refers to inflation after the initial mining run. BTC is capped at 21 mil, DOGE will grow at a constant ~5 billion DOGE a year after the initial 100 billion mining run.

>its like you cant handle numbers at all

I am not sure if you are talking to me or someone else, but there is no need to handle large numbers here. The only numbers you need to handle are "100" and "5." The "billion" part drops when you are doing ratios.

If you have any questions, or arguments, about the numbers, I will be glad to get the exact details for you, since it's kind of my self-imposed job.

So, before we get to the math, let's have a lesson on punctuation:

"You, sir, are a moron."

With that out of the way, I assume what you are referring to, by "inflation," is the fact that BTC is currently being mined. So, there are more BitCoins being introduced into the market. This is correct. However, this is not what created the panic.

What created the panic is that DOGE was initially capped at 100 billion, just like BTC is capped at 21 mil. Then an announcement was made that there will be no cap, and new DOGE will be created after the initial 100 bil. However, NO NEW BTC will be created after the 21 mil.

Do you see the difference?

The rate of market cap growth required to sustain Doge prices at the final Doge creation rate is lower than that of Bitcoin for the next century.

Moreover, because the amount of Doge being perpetually minted is fixed, the rate of Doge inflation will approach zero over time. Anyone panic selling because of the no-cap decision either has no understanding of cryptos or is assuming that the average crypto holder has no understanding of cryptos.

>A lot of people panicked and created drama when it was announced.

These are the people who panic sell whenever there's a dip or bad news from China. They would have exited the market involuntarily anyway. Yes, the inflation dampens overall enthusiasm for Doge, but it also sets it apart from other cryptos. Even if the math makes real Doge inflation lower than Bitcoin, having post-mineout inflation symbolically makes Doge a currency for exchange, rather than hoarding.

You're not wrong, but I think you're overestimating the effect of that announcement on the long-term future of Doge.

No, with lucky it will be another quick pump and dump.
Can you see 3-4 years from now? Sometimes I can be very accurate, I have nothing against coins but not even half will survive in meaningful ways, I wish you could believe me and not waste time over these soon to be bygone networks.
So much more could be accomplished.
BTC will not go away, neither will LTC, Monacoin, Dokdocoin, Ripple, some country-coins will have enlarged time-spans, VTC and BC will remain minor due to the algo diversification but its not enough.
Good luck anon.

It's when people with a bearish outlook on the market sell, say you are going up for a long time and the market dips a little bit downward they will sell, but then go up again, so the bears can only buy in at a loss. So the bear will be trapped.
