Inb4 COMEX shill. You can buy as much silver as you want.

Chart depicts crustal abundance on LOGARITHMIC scale
Rarity + a decent number of applications = GUARANTEED GAINS no matter current price

>Blue/REMs are expensive because of low recyclability. However, new tech could ameliorate this like how Aluminum became dirt cheap to extract
>Red industrial metals are okay for owning stonks

PHYSICAL TIER LIST V4

- Iridium - 2nd rarest, relatively low price, 2x last 2 years, still discovering uses
- Rhodium - automobiles, 10x last 2 years; however may be lower in future as cars become electric
>A

- Rhenium - automobiles, aerospace, reasonably low price
- Ruthenium - electronics, aerospace, & medicine
- Silver - low cost, incoming COMEX default pump, many applications, widespread use
>B
- Gold - ultimate store of wealth, eternal, stable value
- REMs - rare because of low recyclability, good but few applications

>Posting cross-thread cuz this is important advice for jr miner management.

Knowing when to sell is one the most difficult parts of trading and investing. There is no
single specific answer but with respect to a diversified junior portfolio, we have an answer.
If a stock becomes too large (as a percentage of your portfolio) then you should trim the position by one-third or one half. This allows you to lock in some profit and reduce risk yet still partake in potential additional upside.

How much to trim depends on the company itself, its fundamental value, how much profit
you have and how much upside potential that company has. For example, if something has
300%-400% upside potential, then I would not sell half after a double (100% gain). In that case I’d sell 1/3. But if something only has 150%-200% upside and it rises 100%, then one could sell half at that point.

Also, if you have a big winner, ask yourself if you would buy that stock today. If not, it is
time to trim. If you would still buy that stock at a much higher price, then you could trim by only
1/3 or not trim, depending on how optimistic you are.

This rule is particularly important for exploration companies because they can make vertical moves. Some believe that for “drill plays” (a company with no deposit but drilling to try and make a discovery) you should sell 50% after a double. It really depends on the cause of the double in the stock. If it’s mostly fundamentally related, then I’d hold at least 2/3 of the position.

If the stock doubled mostly because of speculation, then you should sell half because of the risk of a large retracement of the that gain.

>If a position drops 20% below your buy price, you should sell it.

A 20% loss on a 5% position limits your portfolio risk to 1%. Cutting losses quickly is very important wisdom that has been passed down for decades by traders and investors alike.

And more importantly, in the junior mining sector 20% losses can become 50% losses
which can become 70% losses. Many of these companies don’t have value they can fall back
on. When a company does not earn money, value is subjective and the market’s perception
can change quickly.

There is only one time this rule hurt me. That was in December 2015 when I was stopped out of a position and then it went up over 300% with the sector.

The only time this rule is going to fail you as if you have really bad entry points during a bull
market. The example is you buy a stock at the wrong time and it corrects 25-30% before
resuming higher.

One way to prevent this is to ask yourself if the stock could drop 20% from where it is. If
that’s the case then you should probably wait to buy, or (if you have fear of missing out) initiate a 2%-3% position instead of a full position.

This rule works because it keeps losses small and protects against small losses becoming
big losses.

Look at NAK, which /smg/ has been shilling recently. Had you bought at $2 dollars and held through though... RIP

>Beware the pumpndump

The pump and dump is when a stock pops 40% or 50% but then retraces the entire gain. If
you have a good entry point on something and it pops, it is not a good sign if the stock does a
roundtrip and loses those gains.

Stocks will always correct but juniors that are destined for three-figure gains (i.e., 100%, 200%) should, for the most part, hold most of their gains when they correct.

>This is especially true in a bull market.

You can implement a stop-loss and put one in place after a position goes profitable but you
have to be careful not to use it too soon.

Once a stock reaches that 40%-50% gain, you should never let it become a roundtrip without booking some profit.

Following this rule does entail proper evaluation. You don’t want to be too quick to give up on something that has a great shot nor do we want to panic out of something if it is merely retracing part of the pump.

Imagine unironically getting a piece of CME Group and generational wealth at their IPO. Well anon, you can. Enter Abaxx. Abaxx is the next generation of commodities exchange. Tokenized warehouse receipts with instant settlement on the eth block chain. With the full blessing of the Singapore Government, including them having an ownership stake, the entrance to the commodities exchange of the east awaits. LNG contract goes live Q2 2021. Then ESG graded metals. Imagine being able to get paid a premium for not whipping Congolese children to carry Cobalt bricks. Abaxx will do that. This has the support of governments, major mining magnates like Robert Friedland and even basedboy baristas. How can that fail? The cherry on top is its being executed by a top team of former commodities market makers that had high level positions at NYMEX. This is the future and ABAXX is building it. Market Cap $220M. CME market cap $68B.

>Portfolio Distribution

The largest positions in your portfolio should be the ones you have the most confidence in
or the ones you think are most likely to be successful.
I usually open a new position with a 4%-5% buy. If it is performing as expected and I am confident it will continue to perform then you can add to it.

Usually I increase the position by ~2%. For smaller portfolios, concentrate your capital in 3 to 5 names that you know very well or
are the most confident in.

For example, don’t have 20 stocks or even 15 stocks in a portfolio of $50,000 or less. In that case you are better off with GDXJ.

>Speculative/Risky Jr's

Most of the time, this means nano-caps and micro-caps. I typically make these positions
anywhere from 2.5%-3.5% of the portfolio.

They have outsized potential and can impact the portfolio even as a smaller position. The small position size also limits risk to the overall
portfolio in absolute terms as well as in liquidity terms. These companies are more illiquid and
have great day to day volatility.

>Momentum Investing

For the most part (not always) you should only add to winning positions.

Rarely, if ever should you add to losing positions (that were full positions to begin with). When a position performs well and the outlook continues to look strong, consider adding to that position.

In regard to certain momentum plays, it is best to layer into positions with multiple buys. In
other words, if there is some risk of a 20% drop but there’s also risk the stock could continue to
rise, its best to start small.

>Don’t buy a 5%-6% right away.

Start with 2%-3%. That way if it corrects, you could add to it at a lower price. If it keeps rising, you have a position and you’ve made a profit.

It is okay to add to a 3-4% position if there is a better buying opportunity at a lower price.
You want to avoid “doubling down.” If you have a 5-6% position that is already down 10%-15%,
do not add to it.

>Periodically Review Your Portfolio

You should periodically review your portfolio to ensure that your companies are performing
as expected.

You should also consider cutting the laggards and non performers.
Another reason to sell a stock would be if you find a replacement that is better.

One way to judge performance is by relative performance.

>You can chart the stock against
Gold or GDX/GDXJ/SIL/SILJ

In addition to relative weakness, a stock that is weakening may lose support levels like the 200-dma and 400-dma.

On the other hand, stocks that hold up well during a sector correction will be leaders during the next advance

Context is important here. Why a stock is dropping is more important than how much it is dropping. Most junior miners are still down 10-30% from their August highs. Selling now would be incredibly foolish. Unless there is a mine collapse, nationalization, fraudulent management, etc. If anything, a solid mining company which you’ve vetted with your own extensive research being down 30% is a gift and a savvy investor would back the truck up at that discount price. Irving Resources is an example. Except for little flickers of life here and there, Irving has done nothing but drop the past seven months. I have bought more on multiple occasions even though the company is dormant, silent, and investors have gotten annoyed or bored and moved on. The company is still in great shape and has historic property that will be worth a fortune one day. Context matters.

I get what you're saying, and this is a case by case basis. Each ticker needs to be evaluated differently.

But if you had a 20% trailing stop-loss, you would've sold out on September. We knew that the correction had started by then so you would've been accumulating dry powder to buy dips. Maybe you would've bought in the Jan peak thinking the correction was over -- I know I did with a lot of my stocks. You would've had a cheaper entry, and mitigated some of the loss that occurred during the correction without hitting stop-losses in Jan.

>Buy Value With a Catalyst

Assessing fundamental value is not easy for everyone. One reason is because it can be subjective. What one person may find a value, you may not. You may find value in something another person may not. Therefore, fundamental value can be subjective. In general, you want to assess the company’s current enterprise value against their project or assets and consider the potential upside in those assets or project at the current Gold/Silver price and potential future price.
A catalyst is something that has potential to create or add more value to a company and/or its project or assets.
It could be drill results.
It could be an expansion in the resource.
It could be a forthcoming economic study.
We are anticipating something that tells the market this project is more valuable.
A catalyst can also be a rise in metals prices and that is where optionality plays and growth oriented producers come in.

>"We are matching the product roll out to the scale of battery production. That's really the main limiting factor," said Musk.
>"As we scale battery production to very high levels, we have to look further down the supply chain. We might get into the mining business. At little bit, at least."
>"We will do whatever we have to do in order to ensure we scale at the fastest rate possible."
>Musk said slowing production is not an option. He wants to electrify vehicle transport as soon as possible. He is still mulling over the venture.
>"We don't want to let the cat out of the bag, too much. It is still in the bag."
>Getting into another vertical would certainly not be a first for Musk. Aside from Tesla, he also runs Space X and The Boring Company, and a solar roof business was folded into Tesla three years ago.

ahhh do you want the spit balling figure because i ve done the numbers before. Its not cheap at all. If your starting from absolutely nothing with full exploration program, mine planning, permits, social / community feedback your looking at a minimum of 75 million dollars to bring a mine into production, however you usually are looking at 100million.

If you already have infrastructure, existing workings and equipment on site as well as permits its far cheaper, anywhere in the range of 10 to 12 million. This is not a cheap game to get into at all. Looking as some of these far larger operations such as Pebble or KSM you looking at 6-8 billion starting price to get running.

building and operating a mine from start to finish is a massive expense. Even getting a tiny small scale high grade project up and running costs millions and might bankrupt you before getting gold.

even back in the day getting a mine going was incredibly expensive and its partly why so many little ones went bankrupt. Guys like James Cronin of Spokane Washington who financed projects like the St. Eugene at Moyie BC spent $170,000 of his own money to bring that project into production as well as another $240,000 of investment funding as well. Mines like the world famous Nickel Plate cost a million dollars in 1900 funds to build. It was staggering amounts of money to build a mine in those days, and without diamond drilling or extensive planning these projects could go belly up in no time. Again for example the Emerald Glacier Silver mine whos pic is related was dug by 12 guys under Cronin's pay, but Cronin got the money from the Vanderbilt's and other wealthy families on the US East Coast.

there are hundreds of small scale old mines being re-explored right now for their potential to be brought back into production, BC alone has over 900 silver mines, of which 240 have over a million ounces likely in reserve which havent been retested since the 1950s or 60s. The issue today is many of these old mines were extremely small scale and high grade, which isnt very good for planning a modern mine around. Scottie Gold is a good example of this. It only lasted 5 years back in the 1980s. Modern companies do not like re-exploring these projects without believing that the ore body can be expanded.

Maybe use space plane to be more resource efficient?
I'm not a scientist or logician so idk if it would be economically feasible. Like do they have to store it on a station until they have enough of a load to be profitable?
Just like a space elevator, it would take time to get the ball rolling. But this way they could at least learn what can work. Plus the initial investment of materials, capital, and manpower would be a lot lower than a space elevator.

Depending on how efficient they can find and bring the asteroids in vs trying to find new mines that are in a place with no infrastructure.

And then they announce their own, gold- or silver-backed currency to the world. Crypto would still exist, but its value proposition would become much less compelling. Crypto investors would start to dump their holdings, starting a snowball effect.

The same way every Ponzi scheme 'rug pulls'. Initial investors sell at huge premiums, and leave later stage 'investors' holding the bags. The later stage investors now depend on finding a greater fool to buy the immensely overvalued 'asset', and since the only reason they purchased was to sell at a higher price, they start panicking and the whole thing collapses. Rinse and repeat until the end of time.

To be more specific - I believe the establishment is using crypto as a means of implementing a CBDC(Central bank 'crypto' currency)

Once crypto has reached obsense valuations, the rug will be pulled(and the smart money will move their new 'wealth' into hard, tangible assets), the government(s) and central bank(s) will come along and offer retail retards who got slaughtered 'safe' and 'reliable' crypto that can't be rug pulled... They'll fall for it like the sheep that they are.

The main realization is that we are coming upon the collapse of the original fiat money scheme. The house of cards that is compounding debt is too high and will collapse. They have done this time and time again and left entire populations with nothing in their pockets. They want the grift to keep on going and so they will force a monetary reset so the masses of cattle don't realize they were victims of a ponzi scheme - they will think some external hand of God (Corona) brought the house down and no one is to blame. Knowing that the masses are already acclimatized to using fake money they will roll this into a new larger ponzi scheme using crypto-fiat money and negative interest rates. I believe they will also wipe the internet and start with a new quantum Internet, this allows them to control the flow of information. You don't know you're a slave unless you've seen what it looks like to be free.

So I'll explain my reasoning on settling on 100oz chunks for my metric.

So first let me define what "the silver price" means to me. Its the cheapest price that a normal person can get physical silver, in hand, that they are confident of the veracity of, immediately.

On the one extreme end someone might say look the price of silver is spot because you could just take delivery from the comex for spot.
Thats not the answer because that would be crazy unrealistic for a normal person.
On the other extreme end we might say a 1oz coin but most westerners who are investing can afford a lot more than that and get a much lower price because of that.
I settled on the 100oz bar as a reasonable middle ground between a mega poor fag who can only afford 1 ounce, and mega bank taking delivery from the comex.
I think most western investors can afford to drop 3k at a time when investing.

Ebay stretches the definition of immediately harder than I would like. But only in person exchanges would really satisfy that. And there is no good way to use that as a price metric. So ebay is the next best thing. These sellers ship the same day or next day.

i say just lurk moar and shill silver when necessary

Microsoft Windows is a literal virus on your computer.
It doesn't just have viruses or get viruses, any antivirus that actually worked would necessarily have to uninstall your os.
Its spying on everything you do.
But I digress.
