28130548 No.28130548 [Reply] [Original]

2 years ago my parents made a deal with a family member that they would buy an inherited piece of land for $30k. To this day my parents have failed to come up with the money and the property has at least doubled in value since. The family member is a saint and she is still willing to sale at that price because that was the deal made.
Heres where I come in. My parents want me to loan them the money. In order to do that I will have to cash out some of my cryptos. Mostly LINK. Theres a few reason I can see why this is a bad idea.
>1. Taxes
>2. I might lose money because we are in a bull run, so the $30k i cash out today might be worth 40k next week.
>My parents are shit with money so ill probably get burned.
Here's what I could do:
>buy the land in my name
>get a loan based on the equity of the land which should be 60-70k
>go all in on LINK with it
>Sell the land to my parents for $30k, whenever they get the money
My concern is I am debt free and my portfolio is 100% profit. So doing this will generate risk and that im not sure im willing to take. What would you do anons? My parents are good people and they've always helped me so I would kind of feel like an asshole if I didn't, but that the same time they had 2 fucking years.

pic related is my portfolio

They want to build three houses on it and make some passive income by renting them out. Ive considered telling them to save a piece of that land for me and allow me to build my own house on it, but I won't have a lot of back yard space desu and the whole point of me investing in crypto is to be able to afford a house with a decent plot of land.

Why not rationally explain the situation to your parents? Maybe try to seek an extension on the deal so that when this cycle is over, or when you are satisfied with your gains enough to make the purchase, you can do it.

That said, I'm inclined to say just lend them the $30k (Try to take it outside of LINK), after all, you wouldn't own any LINK if it wasn't for them, when you think about it

Also none of this story makes any sense. Why don't your parents get a personal loan for 30K, buy the land, and then basically refinance using it as collateral for lower interest rates and a larger loan, which now they can use the difference to build their rentals or whatever. My mom is a literal retard with money, something I've realized these past few years, and is constantly lieing to my dad about the money, blaming the realtor for not finishing up the deal. So really its 100% my mother putting pressure on me to purchase this so she don't have to deal with my dads anger when he finds out she somehow lost $30k. According to my mother, my dad thinks they have half of it, but I dont believe that. I think she's lieing to me about that and I think he believes they have all of it.

You also deserve to see their plan for building these 3 houses as the person potentially loaning them 30k. You should ask to see what they have planned and partially base your willingness to loan on the viability of the plan.

I would still be very apprehensive to make the loan since it means selling crypto. I would find a way to do it without selling, there is still a lot of upside coming, probably more in the next 1-2 years than any rental scheme.

Buy the land yourself, get them some sort of legal authorization to manage/use it in whatever way, but so that it becomes invalid after a reasonable time (talk about how long this should be and try to decide together) if they can't make their plan work, so you can still flip it. They invested in you and they need your help now. It's not even a third of your money and you'll make it back, gains not gained are not gains lost, who knows, might even be potential dumps avoided. Consider striking a deal where you're getting a part of their profits as rent for the land in case they succeed or having them buy it back this way with interest/at market price. And some day you inherit it anyway, so it's a nice way of getting some passive income, which is comfy (in case your financial situation suddenly crashes for example), and a (albeit very long) x2.

If you actually loan them the money, ake it clear that in case it goes to shit you're not giving them any money anymore until they pay it all back or unless they become homeless or sth. And most importantly, talk to them more about it instead of some board full of retards. You think your dad thinks they have the full 30k? Tell your mom you're going to talk to him about the "15k loan" and see what happens. Try to figure out the actual situation. Have a conversation about the crypto market and what taking this out means to you. Explain your doubts about their capability to carry out their plan and handling finances.
