Therein lies the rub. The age old question, is it better to invest a lump sum all at once or dollar cost average over time. There are pros and cons to both. It's psychologically easier to dca over time but since historically the market goes up a lot more than it goes down, it's mathematically more rational to invest all at once and the sooner the better. Think about it like this, suppose you go all in now and then next year the market dumps. At least you had a year of gains. Then suppose you dollar cost average over the next year but then the market dumps. The dump still happened but you had less gains since you weren't all in for the whole year preceding the dump.
Of course if you can time a crash then the bestest way to invest is get in at the bottom and ride it back up like back in March. But then you have to time the crash which is a lot harder than it sounds.
Statistically, the best advice is always to go all in now. Psychologically (which is very important!) you can dollar cost average. It boils down to your priorities. The worst decision is to do nothing.
