Hyperinflation, mass lay-offs, millions of defaulted house payments and student loans are what's in store for 2021.
How are you getting ready for 1929 V2?

>> No.28057527

Why is anyone expecting hyperinflation? Despite massive money printing, inflation of scarce assets has been merely modest. Private debt ensures that inflation is kept in check. Even if Biden unilaterally forgives all college debt and gives all those students credit score waivers, you're still looking at a mere 70s-esque pump to be inevitably crunched 80s-style when costs outpace feasible rents. Worst-case scenario we see 100% inflation this decade, and probably not even that bad.

Depression of 29 was due to a restriction of money supply- essentially a bunch of factors kind of collided that resulted in the supply being cut being by like a third which made the value of the dollar skyrocket but also meant that everyone tried to make a run on the banks to get their money while the stock market crashed and all the banks essentially ran out of cash. Basically, if you didn't get your cash before the banks declared bankruptcy, you just lost it all.

This is the opposite. Rather than the value of the dollar being high, the mass printing of currency instead is completely destroying the value of the dollar. Basically, the prices of everything are going to move up massively, but wages and such will likely remain stagnant. This causes a death spiral because eventually more and more people will have less money to spend on more expensive things that have the same or less value than they previously did.

>> No.28057674

That's what I'm saying. 100% sounds nation-ruining but it really isn't. Woodrow Wilson oversaw 100% inflation in just his second term, for example, and while the Dems lost 1920 in a landslide on a "return to normalcy" platform, the inflation itself didn't matter much. Current QE inflation also only inflates those specific goods, i.e. it's dependent on the ability of people to buy housing to begin with, and most people are holding financial instruments, e.g. stocks and debt. Inflation will only wreck cashies that shove everything into checking accounts.

I tend to think PMs are dogshit for this reason because if shit really does go super south, the majority of the population isn't going to choose buying gold over food and shelter for their loved ones.

unironically america in the 19th century was anarcho capitalist and it was a runaway success.
there was no federal reserve, no income tax, no public education and barely any law enforcement, barely any laws at all, there were no regulations on anything. yet still we built dozens of new cities and homes for 40+million new people in an enormous inland empire.
it was all done through private enterprise, all the factories, railroads, cities, prisons, public works like libraries and schools, the mining, quarrying, design, the infrastructure was mostly done by master craftsmen leading groups of hard working laborers, with little more than the promise of a better future driving them.
there were no bailouts, the kikes didnt get a strangehold on the US until almost a full century of capitalism had passed.

Not true. Washington and Hamilton oversaw the creation of the Federal Reserve which led to a massive real estate bubble, which many of their friends bought into. When it collapsed following a war and drying of European capital, it was John Adams who signed the Bankruptcy Act of 1800, which explicitly forgave the debts of speculators and bankers, while doing nothing for the unlanded, suffrageless common man. America has been a battle between foreign capital and the yeoman since our founding.

Brainlettes, velocity isn't directly measurable. It is a ratio, calculated by v= gdp / m2
So you're basically saying that ending lockdowns will suddenly raise GDP, or will cause M2 to fall bigly. This despite:
>incoming mortage, rent, and loan repayments
>higher taxes
>cost push inflation (higher fuel prices, supply shortages / disruptions)
>demographics
>government spending as half of GDP

if - and that's a big if - another crash happens, there really is no "safe haven". What happens during a crash is that everyone needs to liquidate their positions in order to cover other leveraged positions and so on. This causes a cascading effect. And that's not to mention people cashing in their assets for cash because they got laid off and need that money now for food and rent. Even gold/silver took a massive shit during the last two crashes in 2020 and 2008 for this reason.

All I know is that *IF* a black swan crash does happen, crypto has proven itself resilient and would bounce back soon enough. Just look at the 2020 crash. The panic sellers got burned. Those who held had their gains recover in a month or two, and soon after they were pushing even higher.

I'm from Canada and our rates are at the mercy of the market, so they're already raring to go up.
That's fucking weird anon. Do they want to keep rates low post pandemic to avoid a housing collapse? What's the game plan?

Canada has accrued a shit ton of debt and our government doesn't seem to know what to do about it. Take a look at our central bank asset sheet.
Maybe I'm retarded but this looks like a radical change in monetary policy.
It was also interesting hearing comparisons with previous recessions. Where the government provides liquidity and encourages activity. But in this case we provided liquidity and discouraged activity? It's strange times for sure.

gotcha. Depends where are you in life, if you are cool living with people or have partner who wants something else, etc.
Just put the least down possible with where rates are today and invest the rest in something that will outpace inflation. Foreign stocks are good or rental properties. If you have 780+ FICO you can get ~2.5% rate. That is the minimum inflation will be over the next 5-10 years.

It mostly depends on your location, but speaking as a britbong, the lockdowns are pretty much only going on to ensure people do not realize that nothing is left. I'm sure most are looking for escape methods as we speak.

Here we have till probably March before they start transitioning the Universal Credit system into a UBI. From that point it'd simply be expanding the program.

Stock shortages are starting to become an issue, but at the moment it is random items. We still have some warehouses with stock, but generally supplies are going to be used up by Summer. Maybe earlier if they re-open again.

You have this year to 'make it', get any supplies from society you want and get the fuck out of society before it all goes to shit.

End of year, October probably, will be the vaccine passports for the UK at least. The idea is to wait until as many as possible have the vaccine before making it mandatory for work or travel, those who refuse will be barred from travel, trapping them. Eventually in a 'camp' similar to how Germany is planning to put deniers in.

The banks are doing alright, they have liquidity.
The stocks are very overvalued (eg Tesla).
There is too much debt floating around, creating zombie companies, which is a risk for insurance companies.
I think that will be the first sign, pension funds could also feel the brunt of it.

Yet, I can't shake the feeling that technology will make any crash look like a correction going forward. Advancing technology is inherently deflationary. More than 40% of world GDP increase happened in the 21st century. All the years of human economic activity from 2000 BC to the 1900s look like a small bleep on a chart compared to what we've seen since post-WW2. And the influence of technology is only increasing.

>Fascism sounds fun NGL, as long as I'm part of the preferred in-group and not the unwanted gulag boys.
Every dictator rose to power with the support of organized people and institutions.
Look around at the state of society today, every single powerful institution is filled with retarded commies with the exception being the military (but they're weeding out Trump supporters there). Not to mention the government selectively enforces and only applies the law against right wing organized groups/protests, while lefties get bailed out and not charged. We already see white people openly vilified in media with no backlash and news is selectively reported to demonize whites at every turn, history has shown when this kind of dehumanization occurs gulags and maybe even genocide against white people are in our future.

Not trying to blackpill but this concerns me greatly, and there's some hope a right wing resistance can occur and should they succeed in bringing a dictator to power then the country could be restored to its former glory, but they appear to be the underdog.

They won't sell when it moons they won't sell when it dips, they won't sell when nothing happens (most of them at least)
Now stop talking about a crash because it sets up a chain reaction if enough people buy into it the crash will happen earlier.

No one, absolutely no one, is thinking the world economy will collapse. We're talking about depression and economic crises here, it doesn't have anything to do with nukes and buying ammo in your SHTF LARP fantasy.

The Fed is doing everything they can to spur inflation, after failing to achieve their inflation targets year after year after year.

It's an open secret that a deflationary bust is the real threat - the Fed themselves have all but said this. Most of the money printing has not entered the actual economy, but has been held in reserve accounts and won't make its way into the hands of the population unless banks loan more credit. That's literally how money comes into existence. But guess what the banks are doing? Tightening lending, for obvious reasons (the economy is in the shitter).

It's really only the direct fiscal stimulus that has actually entered the economy.

I do think we see a fully parabolic blow off top first, but all the signs are there and have been for years - they just kicked into overdrive on Fed stimulus in 2020.
