Its because of all the attempts at the throne. Every coin has to differentiate itself from BTC and therefore shits on BTC every chance they get. Therefore BTC maxis have to rain fire down on shitcoins to keep the top spot. Its like game of thrones man, cant show weakness.

Just wait, now that BTC is more of a sure thing that wont fail, ETH supporters will become the new maxis due to their insecurity about other smart contract chains coming to steal their lunch. Same story, different coin.

Because Bitcoin is functionally one of the worst coins on the market. The emperor has no clothes but they don't want you to notice.

BTC being functionally the worst actually makes it the best for being the center of the ecosystem. Its like gold bars. No one gives a shit about golds utility when used as a financial asset, its just a good way to store wealth because people believe it has value and they are confident that will be true in the future and they just keep it in a vault.

BTC is very similar. Buy BTC, it will do alright in the long run, and you dont really need it to do all that much thinking about its featureset.

Other coins can do all of the cool functionality and compete on utility and features, but when you just want to have a financial backbone for the ecosystem you dont want the devs trying to YOLO some crazy ecosystem upgrade that not everyone has bought into. BTC being the digital equivalent of a rock is a feature not a bug. Its predictable, it is what it is, its safe.
