BTC moves in cycles. In a bull market, it usually goes several times higher than the previous drop. After BTC tops out, it is followed by a bear market which crashes BTC about -80%.

The tops are getting smaller for each cycle, and the crashes are also smaller than it used to be. No more -98% drops. In addition, the cycles are getting longer. In short, BTC is stabilizing.

What you want to do is to accumulate crypto during the -80% drops. Alts crash harder than Bitcoin in a bear market, but perform better in a bullmarket. You want to buy alts during the worst crashes. For trading, the only thing that matters is BTC ratio. You VERY rarely need to trade. Sell alts back to Bitcoin when the ratio is high. For example, when ETH is at something like 0.05-0.08, you sell it all back to BTC and hold BTC. When ETH drops to 0.01-0.03 you sell BTC and buy ETH. Right now you are in the beginning of alt season, so after this pumps some more you want to sell your alts back to BTC and hold. It's hard to tell when the top is in and you should sell crypto to fiat or stablecoins. In the 2017 bubble, Bitcoin went from past 2013-high of $1000 to 20x-ing it. Because BTC is stabilizing, I think the next top likely is somewhere between $100k-$250k. Sell gradually.

The altcoin flavor this season is DeFi. Learn about BTC halvening and the price impact it has. In the end, BTC is king. Ignore centralized coins: they serve no purpose.

Good luck anon

I'm thinking based

>> No.27880500

>>27878514
I've learned from the very best. One of the most important things I’ve learned in life is to only take advice from successful people. Everyone has strong opinions, but unless the person giving you advice have made it, you smile, nod, agree and ignore him. And by the way, I've not made it myself. So be critical.

Long term you need to become an expert on Bitcoin. It's the king. The whole invention of cryptocurrencies is that it's unstoppable, decentralized and censorship-resistant. Basically a write-only public ledger. Bitcoin is the most secure crypto, which is incredibly important. It's becoming digital, programmable gold.

As for what cryptos to buy, I'm not too comfortable giving advice. ETH is my safest bet. But really, since we are in a altcoin season, anything might pump. High supply coins give a small dollar value per coin, which noobs like because of unit bias (even though market cap is the only thing that matters). Beware though, those kind of coins pump hard and fast, but also crash hard and fast. Just be ready to trade it back to Bitcoin when the alt bubble is about to burst. Look at the past altcoin bubbles for references of when to trade back your altcoins to Bitcoin. Pay attention though, older coins tend not to pump as hard as previously. So a ETH top of 0.11+ is unlikely.

>>27879452
Depends on your risk levels. Personally, I traded all my BTC for ETH when the ratio was lower. Not selling until 0.05 at least. Most likely holding until 0.06-0.08. But I'll have to take some risks because I’m not rich.. yet.

Wanted to add something for newfags. Never buy without understanding what you are buying. Then set price targets and exit the position accordingly. Just my experience, but when people buy what they don't understand they almost always either panic sell or hold way too long and become bag holders. Basically your not gonna make it Conversely, when you understand the project and believe in founder and it's future then you will be patient and know when to sell and when to buy. Very helpful, thanks anon. When you say rarely, trade, do you mean converting coins X and Y to BTC and back again? Also, what did you mean by sell crpyto to fiat (USD) or stablecoins? Which stablecoins too?
Thanks again, this will help a ton watching the coins and the altcoins. Fortunately I am not stupid or impatient enough to think this is an immediate get rich quick game-I plan on doing this for years. I buy a $10 scratcher every Sunday for my get rich quick ideas. The GME debacle really showed me how desperate, uninformed, and panicky people get when they won't take the profit sitting on the table in front of them (during a stock explosion that was valued at like $10) and instead get greedy.

I think it depends on how fast BTC goes up. If BTC doesn’t pump too much now, it creates room for a larger altcoin bubble. If Bitcoin slowly but steadily goes up, $100k-$200k is possible.
If Bitcoin moons hard and fast, the top will be significantly lower. In that case sure, the top will be $50k-$100k.

>>27884317
>When you say rarely, trade, do you mean converting coins X and Y to BTC and back again
Mainly, yes. Don’t chase pumps, just buy several alts and trade them back to BTC in an alt run when they pump. Look at altcoins that existed the previous alt season and see how far up in BTC ratio they went that time. Old coins usually pump less than new coins, so they most likely won’t hit the same btc ratio, but once they are 60-80% or something of the previous high in BTC, be careful. This is your reference for newer alt coins which you would have no idea when to sell.

> Also, what did you mean by sell crpyto to fiat (USD) or stablecoins?
When BTC has gone high enough, you start selling to fiat or stablecoins, not altcoins. Wait for the inevitable crash and buy back in when it is -75% to -85%. It’s hard to time the top though, that’s why you sell gradually. Keep in mind that the BTC tops are getting smaller and smaller each cycle because it’s stabilizing - but also keep in mind that BTC can surprise everyone.
> I plan on doing this for years
Good, but be aware of that the next cycle will be slower than this one. You’ll have to buy BTC and alts during the crash and just wait. For each cycle that happens, the waiting will be longer.
If you want to gamble, put your scratcher money into a low cap coin instead.
>>27884969
Thanks anon, bet things will turn out good for you.

>>27897569
Depends on BTC. I hope BTC doesn’t move too fast right now, else it eats up the alt season and the cycle top will be lower. But absolutely no way I’m selling all at 0.05. More like a small portion, with the hopes of converting back to ETH later.

>> No.27898275

>>27880500
If you don't know what to do, then do nothing. Simply holding will get you there with zero risk, just a little slower. You start trying to time tops is when you miss green dildos and switch onto red dildos and end up begging to God that all you want is your original holdings back and I'm sorry for being greedy. If you aren't 100% confident on an action while also having the experience to be a good judge of the action then simply hold or mark my words you will lose eventually and regret where your greed has got you.

>> No.27898478

>>27898275
Absolutely. Good advice. This is exactly why I rarely trade, only when we’re in a obvious alt bubble or when alts are extremely low. Anything else I just hold... and buy more with my fiat.
