I'm going to be decidedly un-American and buy in for long on the next dip since I believe in the company. I've never invested in foreign stock before, though, so I'd like to get /biz/-thoughts on it.

nintendo is not making friends atm
their new consoles won't sell either, hardcore gamers dont touch a company that does EVERYTHING to fuck them over and they are literally the only ones who would go for a highperformance switch

I bought some shares recently, they blew past all of their sale goals

Metroid at some point
the new switch
but idk imo nintendo is commiting PR suicide with their latest actions with smashbros etc.

Do you really think a grand subset of their customer base cares for competitive smash?
They are not catering to them (and from the past allegations of pedophilia from a majority of the pro scene, even less now)
Their PR is doing fine, most don't care about "their latest actions"

It's irrelevant since spikes like that are for short-term gains. I'm planning on a long-term investment since they're well-positioned within the industry to survive long after the other plastic gamebox companies gut themselves on their own practices.

If you hold till Zelda I think you'll profit.

>> No.27840461

In fact if Zelda is well received it will pump the stock much better than Animal Crossing did. If we're still quarantining even moreso. I bet they will release Zelda around the same time as the new Switch since they tend to time major Zelda releases with new tech.

Longer term however I think Nintendo is at risk of being left behind unless their business model adapts to the rapid exponential growth in tech that coronavirus has initiated.

I don't understand why you're laughing, the industry looks poised for a crash with three companies with box plans themselves (Valve, Google, Intellivision) within the next 5 years, the rising development costs of multiplatform AAA games outstripping profits, employee burnout rates, shady business practices, poor working conditions, etc. Sony is reliant on 3rd parties because their inhouse teams are weak. Microsoft is in a better position, but all their first-party titles are PC compatible...there is virtually no reason for consumers to buy them other than brand-loyalties. This contrasts with Nintendo who has a strong first-party and dominates the core handheld market with their versatile Switch...but the real kicker is that people have no choice but to buy Nintendo to play their games legally. The other two can't make that claim with an honest face.

In short, there's always a reason to buy Nintendo products. The same cannot be said for Sony or Microsoft, because buying a $500 box to play Call of Duty and Netflix & Chill with the girlfriend on is a bit silly when owning a $700 PC is more important than ever and can do all those things and more. The market is becoming oversaturated again, and the various factors outlined earlier in this point towards another market crash like in 1983. A crash which Nintendo is most likely to survive by offering unique features the others don't and the strongest 1st party development in the entire industry.

This is all purely speculation in favor of going long on Nintendo and should not be viewed as financial advice.

>hardcore gamers dont touch a company that does EVERYTHING to fuck them
Meeleefags are not hardcore gamers. They're a bunch of pedophiles that refuse to play anything other than Meelee.

Latest Mario and Zelda releases have been good. The console has a lot of software and support and they decided to stop pursuing the mobile market. It will hardly moon, but it will hardly go down.

Also, friendly reminder that most people buy the PlayStation to play FIFA and Fortnite.

Nigger pedophilia crap was done by SSBU you stupid retard
ANd its not just melee fag, basically everything 3rd party is prosecuted by nintendo.
And they do non-pc stuff which is also not well regarded.
Nintendo is a company for children and families and they're losing them aswell.

Same shit.
>basically everything 3rd party is prosecuted by nintendo.
Only some fangames. If they really were as heavy-handed as you idiots claim, they would be flooding R34 artists with C&D.

Song covers, emulation and fanart are virtually untouched by Nintendo.
>>27841430
I was mentioning their two biggest franchises retard. Pokémon is arguably bigger than Zelda, but the latest game was a fucking cash grab despite its good sales.

This is sort of the info I'm looking for, since it's a foreign stock I was more wondering what key differences there were on investing in it as opposed to domestic.
