Keep 3-6 months of your living expenses in an emergency fund.
Set aside some small amount of your money to be your gambling account (me personally, I do 10% of my net worth and roughly split it between meme stocks and crypto.)
Put the remainder in a Boomer ETF and forget about it. Vanguard index funds are my personal choice.
The important thing is that you keep all of these accounts as completely seperate money pools. If you want to buy a new meme stock, do it with paycheck money or by selling off existing meme stocks. I'd even go so far as to have different brokerages to keep your gambling and actual investment seperate.
Oh, and what the heck was that.

That was about the same age that he decided to go back to uni. He did two-years at a local CC and then switched to a 4-year STEM program at a state university (he did have to move, but you've got to do what you've got to do). He kept a 4.0 in undergrad and grad school, which let him snag several scholarships and an NSF grant. The latter was a big reason he ended up in a top-3 STEM PHD program (he had to move for that again as well). It also ended up making him money as compared to a standard grad program grant.

You've got a leg up on him already, given your background. It's always possible, you just have to stick to your guns if you go down that path.

VOO is run by Vanguard but because it’s an ETF instead of a mutual fund you can buy it from any broker commission-free. Any broker worth using is commission-free now. Don’t use a meme broker like Robinhood. You can protect yourself against missing both the highs and lows by buying just a couple shares at a time. A day, a week, whatever. If you know for sure when the next market correction is, please share with the class. Because until then you’re missing out on the gains. VOO isn’t a get rich quick play. Buying at $300 vs. $315 vs. $285 won’t matter when it’s in the $400s years later. That’s what it’s for.

It was just hype and (mild) mass psychosis. People saw legit good traders like deepfuckingvalue and thought "hey this could be me!" despite being late to the party. Obviously no one will ever be honest and say he hoped to 100x his 200$ investment but deep down this is what people dreamed about. People who bought for 100 or less probably sold their shares for 3-4x gainz, the rest were FOMOd into buying anyway and told "yeah this is just the beginning!" by people just as dumb.
I'm not judging anyone since I was too blind/lazy to buy up until 200$. But I can understand the thought process. Money just makes people crazy.

Well, what do you expect from people who never spend time thinking about finance or stocks for their whole life? The average GME buyer has even less clues about finance the (pre hype) wsb poster, those people at least bought stocks, made mistakes before etc. For most of these guys GME was the first stock they ever invested in. The only people I judge are people retarded enough to put in any important amount of their life savings/other peoples money. But some retard spending 500$ on GME? It's a dumb mistake we all made with crypto at some point. Also I don't mean to attack you but it's always easy to say this in hindsight. 99% of this board was just as hyped and retarded as wsb last week. No one talked about how this might fail.

Just want to share something I found for the BB fangirls:

The following car manufacturers are the biggest in the world:
>Toyota
ditched QNX for AML (Linux).
>Volkswagen
ditched QNX and develops vw.os (Linux), which will be implemented across all Volkswagens, Audis and Porsches. Other car manufacturers, which are part of the VW group, that is Skoda, Seat, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Skania, MAN etc. are not confirmed so far, but I'm sure they will follow.
>Daimler
ditched QNX for MBUX (Linux). Although the term MBUX seems to refer to more than just the OS. every new Mercedes build since 2018 comes with MBUX instead of QNX.
>Ford
just dropped QNX this week and will use Google's Android instead.
>Honda
seems to stay with QNX.
>BMW
ditched QNX and uses iDrive (Linux), although it seems that QNX is still working under the hood.
>GM
ditched QNX a few years ago and uses, just like Ford, Android.
