All I want is a little bit of HEX but UniSwap insists that they have to buttfuck me first.

Why should my swap cost 5x more than it's worth?

What other options are there?

I think that's the maximum it could cost but it usually ends up being a bit less than that. I just paid $20 to approve a token to sell too which sucks, so with that added in it probably is about $40-$60 per transaction. Just make sure you're buying it at a low point, sometimes it's better to wait half an hour or so

Just tried to use uni swap to buy 100 grt, they wanted like $200 worth of eth to do the swap DOUBLE the value of 100 grt. Wtf is going on

that;s because faggots from big companies like MicroStrategy trade for fun to make other pain and sold out = not connected with serious trading which mostly is offline in CEX + most people buy on uniswap and hold. Also additionaly ask miner pajeets ;/

Why is it so expensive? Does it really take $50 of computing power to make a small transfer?

Your GPU wouldn't help speed up the network in any way. A block is mined on the chain every 15 seconds, adding more GPUs won't solve the problem. Look up the scalability challenge for Ethereum. Every chain that would have the same level of usage would get bogged down

Say I want to transfer some ERC 20 token from metamask to a CEX. Does it matter how low I set the gas price or does that fail too if it takes too long?
