Fees on their platform are fucking insane, $130 to swap 9 eth to usdc while on uniswap it's $30 to $40 to do the swap. order book is like 2 or 3 transactions with each tx paying $40 of fees.

Obviously improvements to a L2 are coming. Tx fees will be drastically reduced. On top of that, it is a functional token. It acts as the tx tax mechanism when swapping crosschain. If you are swapping ETH <-> DOT, or NEO <-> TRON, etc. you pay for the swap with RBC, not the native tokens.
