Every single time they set a release date for these movies, it forces theaters to commit their resources and budget to being open, and when they are open they have to remain so for at least 3 months before they can close again. If they open their own streaming service or just sign multi-billion dollar release deals with companies that have streaming services, they make a lot more than just case by case basis rental payments from theaters. Without theaters, they can then raise their streaming prices to whatever they want. Nobody wants to cook and generally food at a restaurant is better than what you can cook if you're not someone who likes to do it. Thus, it is more convenient to go out and eat.
