I've been thinking of theories and strategies for maximizing a Roth IRA assuming the laws stay the same and you can put in 6000 a year. The classic strategy is to DCA into some safe index fund and by retirement age it will have grown bigly. But what if the first year you put the 6000 in a high dividend like MO, so now you have 7% of 6000 extra dividend of cash to buy into the index fund with. 6420 DCA'd into an index fund over the next 40 years is gonna be significantly more than 6000 DCA into it for 41 years right?
If you DRIP with the dividend and put another year's 6k into something like MO after two years you could have over 800 in dividend cash every year extra to contribute to an index fund above the 6k yearly limit. I wonder if there is an optimum strategy here given a number of years and assuming some long term average growth rate for the fund

Depends on how you look at it. They did the offering to raise capital to build a new farm (#3) and are the only company in the US legally allowed to sell genetically engineered salmon. Stuff like fish farms are far more profitable and realistic than synthetic meat and any of those other goofy things. Licensing might be good wait to get some profit on side. So far their financials don't seem too good on yahoo: 180k revenue and -13m earnings. It's probably debt, as you said, they're trying to grow on credit. It all sounds risky though. I have a feeling this is more of $1 stock than $10.

I think they're fairly priced anywhere under ~$15 (pre-dilution), and far higher with the next farm depending on its size. If it's the size of their main farm, that's quite a lot. Of course, this prices in a bunch of shit like their ability to actually sell their product to capacity as they scale. However since they already had a successful 'test run' in canada, it should be fine.
Basically, I strongly disagree that their financials look bad: based on their stage as a company, everything is looking on track (increasing earnings year on year that's about to turn profitable, good and straightforward expansions on manageable debt, as mentioned above: test runs were positive, etc.)
However, I of course agree risk is involved. Important points to clarify are:
- Plans for future dilutions vs other means to raise capital (not talking about current dilution, as it's exactly what they should be doing right now)
- Details about farm #3: capacity, final cost figures, etc.
- More clients
- Plans for other revenue streams than just salmon

On a scale of 1 to 10, I judge the risk level to be just 4: relatively low-risk early-stage company.
