Obviously without insider data, it's difficult or impossible for anyone to discern whether a squeeze has or will happen (or when.) But I've seen it asked here and there as to why the price did not fall significantly today? Close was up +2.68% and currently we're down −1.85% in post-market. Is retail investors maintaining the price? Are big players involved or is this a slow-burn for Melvin?

>> No.27652112

I would imagine tomorrow being very similar to today, maybe hitting $110 before dropping again. But I'm wondering what is lowering the volatility of the stock.

>> No.27652148

one of the reasons might be because a lot of us are down 50-80% on our investment, and selling for us at this point makes no sense

>> No.27652771

the people who got in at $20 already locked in profits and care mostly about the movement

the people who bought the dip at 80, won't sell at 100 because of the massive potential upside

the people who bought at 200-400 are either already out at a loss, or won't sell at $90 because the risk to reward ratio is too good (if you're down 70%, you're only risking 30% now while seeing the price hit 500 couple days ago)

that being said, retail investors only own a piece of the pie, so it's likely this is is only a part of the reason

My real honest opinion is there is major fuckery behind the scenes. Volume is very low to indicate paper hands isn't a problem (Honestly people bought worse and held longer, but didn't have internet meme points to gain from it). So the real question is how it keeps reacting so poorly to holding. Maybe they are just flat out selling stocks they don't own. Idk. But my gut says election frau- I mean market manipulation. We were always a day behind on short interest data, and as I said, new shorts entered at the top to ride the wave back down.

Another very important factor is that we had zero visibility as to what institutional shareholders were doing and ultimately they decide how the shit plays out. The whole "Reddit takes on Wall St" story was clickbait, retail investors were just ants riding on the backs of two elephants fighting

The price decreased because the same stocks are being traded constantly tricking the system into thinking its many different
stocks being traded once, however since the price is too low for the people who are holding the other stocks they are not selling. Why is this important? Its important because the hedgefunds need to BUY
your stocks to close their positions. They literally cannot close their shorts
unless they buy YOUR stocks. This is why you are supposed to hold your
stocks, no matter how low the price is. The price is a facade, they want you
to sell at a price they are setting. If you are not selling even though the price is low, they cant buy. And if they cant buy they cant close their shorts. If they cant close their shorts they'll have to pay interest. And when the interest becomes too much they are going to be FORCED to buy YOUR stocks at whatever price YOU offer. This is the squeeze. The squeeze starts when the hedgefunds cant afford to trick the system anymore since the interest on their shorts are getting too much. Theyll have to pay whatever we ask of them. If no one sells untill 1000usd they are going to be forced to pay that, if noone sells until 10000usd theyll have to pay that amount instead. When they are forced to close their positions en masse they will FLOOD the marketplace with orders to buy. This is going to skyrocket the stocks, and the price will keep rising until people start selling. However if you sell during the short ladder attacks, the squeeze wont happen. The price set during the attacks isnt the actual price. Its a price thats tricked into the system. This is why you HOLD no matter how much the price goes down. if everyone holds there is no supply and if there is no supply it doesnt matter how low the
price is SINCE THERE IS LITERALLY NOONE FOR THE HEDGEFUNDS TO BUY FROM so they cant close their positions, theyll have to keep paying interest, and at some point they will HAVE TO BUY YOUR STOCKS no matter the PRICE.

>the people who bought at 200-400 are either already out at a loss, or won't sell at $90 because the risk to reward ratio is too good (if you're down 70%, you're only risking 30% now while seeing the price hit 500 couple days ago)
I bought at 300-ish and sold it at a loss after doing some analysis, there's no fucking way they're gonna squeeze it again, serious market players understand the market, unlike redditors.
It doesn't take a financial expert to google wtf a short ladder attack is and figure out that it does't exist, it doesn't take a genius to read what they're saying and checking out if they make sense, if the numbers add up, or if the didn't misinterpret data just to confirm their bias: The whole thing's become a cult and you can't have a rational conversation with any of them. Just try it, they'll say your a shill, or that they should buy more GME, any attempt to them to reason is totally shut down. You'll have more luck having a rational conversation on /b/.

What I think is: A lot of people fucked up their lives beyond imagination so much that they can't accept the truth. I know, I did a lot of drugs in my life: All the high of the possibility of becoming excessively rich + the damage they're taking is like a drug man, like crack. Some people get hooked up the first time they try it and when the high starts to fade and they crash down on reality, they become insane.

why do "people" run any of this anyway?
because people are corruptible.

if it weren't for hegemonic status quo maintenance,
this whole thing (finance and governance) could be run publicly with open source software and verifiable instantaneous decentralized operations. even legislation and elections could be free of manipulation by simply registering your public key as voter id, and revoking on death.

corruption in police could be eliminated by authorizing ALL people to execute democratic orders such as arrest, etc. dissolve the military and arm the populace, and tyranny becomes a bad memory.

Riddle me this, if melvin capital did not cover any shorts, tell me what changed between now and January 27th (the day the stock jumped up 400%). If what people say is true that the squeeze did not occur, then these 400% surges in price should be a weekly appearance, no? You are panicking because you don't understand what is happening. Calm down.

Melvin Capital was shorting over 120% of $GME from $2.50, if they covered last week at ($375), they had to pay 15000% over-value.

There is about 69.75M shares, they shorted 120% it means 83.7M shares had to be bought back at a premium of 15000%

That means 15000% of total market cap of 837000000. That's 125550000000.

That's a 125 billion USD loss right there, they don't have the capital to sell it at all.
