I think I've seen a few of their videos. I got nostalgic a while back and did some binge watching. The two cities I'd check out would be Juneau and Anchorage. Juneau is in SE Alaska, so the weather is more mild but it's a decent little city that's pretty much surrounded by wilderness. It's a ferry ride or a plane to get anywhere and it's legit beautiful. It can get busy in the summer, it's a tourist city, but other than that it's a sleepy little city.

If you want to try something bigger, you can check out Anchorage. That's in the same region as that YT video, though I don't know if they're in Anchorage proper. The weather will be more serious than Juneau and, since its farther north than Juneau, you'll get greater seasonal light extremes: near unending days in the summer, near unending night in the winter. You'll have access to more goods than in Juneau due to the larger population, but if you want a more off grid experience you can still buy and build outside of town proper.

So once this moons that'd be my advise to you: check out those two locations and check them out both in winter and summer. Plenty of people can't handle the winters up there due to a combination of the cold and the shortened days, but if you can there's real reward for living up there. You see shit every day that people spend their lives dreaming about, and if you like outdoor sports then there's very little you can't get involved in. Oh, and it goes without saying, but the hunting and fishing is indescribably good.
