It makes sense. Exchanges can act as whales and move coins around freely as they choose. People who work at Exchanges can have separate wallets if they wish, obviously. But who the hell has insane amounts of money to only act with it at crucial moments? And no one knows who they are, not even the Exchanges themselves?
If SEC were the good guys, would they not come down on these Exchanges allowing such market manipulation? They have the user's personal information if they are legitimately a third party in all of this.

There is a lawsuit filed by SEC against Ripple. There's one reason.
The other is mentioned in Ripple's defence: they want to block innovation. At least, Trump's SEC did.
The SEC or Trump likely wanted to back an alternative to what Ripple's doing, and have done everything they can to keep the pressure on them.

There's no other way to explain why XRP has been fucked over in price for so long. There's no reason why other coins can freely shoot up multiple times over the past 3+ years and why XRP can't do the same. There IS manipulation, but Ripple's unable to call it out because Exchanges won't cooperate and they don't want to risk slander charges or looking like fools. And even if they did, they'd uncover the majority of US exchanges have done the above in some form or another, and widespread delisting of XRP isn't Ripple's goal.
It already started happening as a last ditch effort from SEC, sending more pressure to exchanges to delist/cease trading: and think about that for a minute. Exchanges didn't need to do that BEFORE litigation began, and long before the court ruled in SEC's favour. They were forced to do that.

I agree but there could very well be more reasons to the lawsuit. They could be working together in this. Delaying Ripple so CBDC's and others to catch up and all implemented at once to introduce a new banking system. Also new age regulation could come out from this so i don't think they are trying to make a duplicate of it.
