After being in the crypto space since 2013 (and being burned by a LOT of the early craze) I've learned a few key things when determining whether a coin is legit:

1. Amount of content created by the team (whitepapers, videos, interviews)
2. Team composition, who are they and what background do they have?
3. Wallet design, if it's a copy-paste then be cautious
4. Ledger support, if they bother add integration that's a good sign

No knows what the future holds for a coin, and even good viable coins can get meme'd and pumped.

OMG token is a good example of this.

If Coinbase is looking to add it, then that's pretty cool too.

Any coin that claims huge numbers of TPS are either centralized or have found a revolutionary way of handling network gossips. FTM seems to be a more extended version of the xrp scam. You can still buy it if you just want the bucks, but there is nothing that seems to be honest about it (imo).
