They gather data from retail trading sites and review it. If they see everyone has it set to sell at between $100 and $200, they'll try to dip it down that low.

It won't work, of course, because unless they actually cover their shorts everyone will just buy the dip and it will go up again, because we know they're calling bullshit. You'll be caught selling at $100 as it rises right up to $200~$300 or so again. Don't.

DO however set buy orders around this area because it's very hard to buy in the window they would otherwise let you buy in at, it will only dip this low briefly. It also serves as a buffer so they can't tank the price and then try to buy themselves out when the price is low.
