I'm not doing any short-term trading at this point, so ETFs don't have much benefit over mutual funds for me. I am getting most of my risk from small cap and international index funds rather than paying for actively managed funds because I'm pretty much convinced that there is no way for me to reliably select funds that will beat the indexes. a lot of people consider them to be kinda sleazy on their ETFs and funds because in the past they have come out with lower-fee versions of their existing ones where Vanguard and Schwab and others just lower the fees on the existing ones. so it made things pretty inconvenient for their current shareholders. it's a pretty minor thing, only reason it matters is because the index funds are all nearly identical to each other. if you can get better taxes with blackrock that's probably worth it
