It takes some ETH has to delegate (it will ask you for about $20, it only ever costs about $9 actually) when you delegate there is token burn of 0.5% (for you that is 20 tokens)

The only real reason to not delegate is that it locks your tokens in for 28 days (this could change in a few months when protocol changes start being voted on - some want it to be only 21 days)
