Banned from buying GME? Buy GAMR or XRT instead. They're ETFs that both derive about 27% of their value from GME right now. They move similarly to GME and buying options in GAMR or XRT will give you a similar effect to the direction and percentage moves of GME. If you just buy shares of either of the ETFs, you will move in the same direction of GME just at a lower percentage so it may be even safer if you think GME is too risky.
Pic related shows the three charts stacked to highlight the similarity.

Edit: Thanks for the gold kind stranger

Edit 2: 327 upvotes for this? Haha wow that's the most I've ever gotten, thanks guys and gals and everything in between!

Edit 3: WTF 600 upvotes wow thank you all so much this is the best birthday ever

Edit 4: Thanks for all the birthday wishes fellow r/wooooshers. I tippeth mine hat to thee on this pleasant morrow.

Edit 5: Ok, so this went viral overnight for some reason O_o 2000 motherflipping upboats I really have no words thank you all so much it means a lot!

Edit 6: ok I'm noticing some toxic discussion happening in this reply chain and I feel the need to address it. Sexism and racism are not cool guys, so please cool it and continue the good vibes please and thank you!

Edit 7: ok so I don't know why but I've received a lot of downvotes on this post recently, maybe i got raided by 4chan.com/b?? (commonly referred to as the "asshole of the internet" for those who aren't aware). I don't really ask for much but I was hoping we could show those losers a thing or two, so please give this post an upvote if you haven't already, it would mean the world to me and show these bullies you cannot mess with a good person.

Edit 8: turns out my girlfriend cheated on me, so that happened :/

Edit 9: so people have been wanting me to clarify the previous edit. I don't have the energy to go into a lot of detail so the general gist of it is this: Yes we were in an open relationship, no that doesn't mean you can't cheat on someone when you're in an open relationship. If you are having sex regularly with someone and never mention it until they get you pregnant, that is definitely a betrayal of trust even if you've both agreed that she can have as many partners as she feels she needs to be comfortable.

Edit 10: FYI, taking responsibility for the child does not make me any less of a man than you, actually it makes me more, so kindly fuck off please and thank you!

It'll be interesting to see how things play out in the future but consider the difference between how computers programmed for Chess, Go, automated driving, voice recognition etc. were programmed in the past and how they are now. In the past they were programmed deterministically. Basically a huge if/then tree of decisions. The problem is human programmers could never give a wholistic set of rules that would work in enough situations to be useful. Enter deep learning. Now the computers are teaching themselves using a statistical reinforcing model. In theory you could tease out a deterministic rule set from the statistical model of Alpha Go but in practice it is impossible as it is combinatorialy complex. The computer is super-powered and its decisions cannot be understood. It can't even be learned from cuz most of what it does is indistinguishable from random to the human mind.
I believe that while this is not a causative analysis of wallstreetbets, it does give a suggestive analogy. Or at least it points in the direction of where an explanation and dare I say model may lie. I've been studying wallstreetbets for over a year now trying to tease out an understanding of it. Does it beat the market? It definitely knocked the brakes off Melvin Capital. Will this continue? We'll see.

That's what I'm looking for. A dump of SOXX under the 200 day moving average.
>also, have you actually sold according to this metric at any point before? didnt you recently create your soxl position like last year?
I have not though I run a similar strategy in my future account with /NQ and a 25 day simple moving average and so far it has worked very well suggesting the 200 idea might work too. It'll unfortunately take years of forward testing to come anywhere near sure.

What i don't understand is, why was only purchasing shares of GME restricted while selling was allowed? Wouldn't the alleged 100% margin requirements that brokers had to give the clearing houses be applicable to both buying and selling?

RH was a growing counter party risk to the DTCC (for shares) and the OCC (for options) the more short term buying there is (since if they lack the liquidity to up front that, they have to borrow it from other parties: one of their main lenders is Citadel). This does not happen with selling and in fact acts as pressure release.
A more detailed summary is here: https://twitter.com/compound248/status/1355274739351248898
RH has many problems but this was probably more of a liquidity issue than some sort of collusion with shorts. Almost certainly because its hedge funds vs. hedge funds now using retail as camouflage. It doesn't help that RH has a history of using and abusing its customers order flow as a product to truly parasitic entities.
If this gets people off RH to better brokers, all the better for it.

NAK: just found this possible hidden gem (no pun intended)

Northern Dynasty (NAK) has roughly as much gold, silver, copper, production capacity, as all of Newmont Mining. Newmont is the largest miner in the world. Newmont market cap = 100x larger than that of NAK, and Newmont will probably double or triple + give dividends over the course of this PM bull market, so NAK has 300x potential at least. The management deeply believe in the company, and didn't sell a single share even when the price went to $20. Trump recently gave open support for the mine, and ran an ad which all but said that he would do everything he could to facilitate its approval.

No you're gonna Make It, anon. This little market blip this week has everything to do with the meme stock volatility. It started with GME, AMC, KOSS, BB, NOK, etc. going bananas and hit the mainstream consciousness scaring the whole market. Politicians got in on it, meme personalities like Chamath and Elon got in on it and on and on it went.
The whole time, vaccines for the virus are shipping, companies like AAPL are having blockbuster earnings reports, etc. In a week or two when this thing plays out we'll be right back up. At some point SOXL will split and you'll get 2 for 1 or 3 or maybe 4 or 5 then those shares will be $100 dollars a piece and the inexorable march of semiconductors will carry on pulling the price of SOXL to $500 again, wash rinse repeat. Obviously I'm passionate about semis and I hold a decent amount SOXL but I believe in this shit. I believe the industry is undervalued. To me SOXL is and always has been a value play. This shit is going to the next hyperverse in the long term. Count on it. And look at it like this. If you buy a long term hold you actually *want* it to go down. Why? So you can buy more

I do have BB so I might be biased, but I didn't get it for the meme, I got it because I believe in the product and in the "new" CEO. Their security stuff is pretty good (I work in IT security) and is getting a lot of traction. They had a recent big announcement with Amazon and they won a patent lawsuit vs Facebook and will get paid out a a nice settlement. This is why I believe in the long term BB. Memes can get fucked.

pretty much nothing, but for the Hedge funds to make that money the price would have to squeeze as Citidel and Co. have to buy back shares fast to avoid interest. Basically it would rocket up and retail who hold will be rewarded but Hedge funds pretty much dictate how this will roll out.

That said, it might be that retail holds enough shares that Citadel can't close out enough shorts Intime not to be sunk by interest on those shorts... in which case another hedge fund tossing money at it would just be like rubbing toothpaste on a fatal gunshot wound; totally ineffective.

AMD's big advantage over Intel is their brilliant chiplet design and much smaller process node size courtesy of TSM. While Intel is still hellbent on torturing the 14++++++ node into 300 watt housefires, AMD is soon to be on node 5 (comparable to Intel 7nm which is nowhere near production). Intel has no plans to move to chiplets as far as I can see which means their manufacturing will be inherently much more expensive for the same product. All that said, INTC prints money and continues to have blowout earnings. But AMD is steadily increasing in marketshare and will probably continue for at least the next 2 or 3 years. With all that I think AMD will stop crabbing in the near future and I think it has a lot of room to grow.
Should Intel get their foundry shit together and start shipping 10nm or 7nm en masse and get their costs down then AMD will have a problem.

It's a practice called dividend capture. It doesn't actually make that much returns and it's not actually that good. It also has some subtlety to it: you can't just buy any random company that will give dividends in a month since you'll have to hold until the price recovers post-payment before you sell, or lose the dividend entirely in stock depreciation. Some stocks recover faster than other, you have to check that and choose the right ones thus.

I agree completely. AMD's GPU arm née ATI has been playing second fiddle since I was playing glquake on my Geforce 2. They don't make enough money to beat Intel and NVDA at the same time. Not to mention NVDA owns the deep learning and data center space. That's not gonna change. And now Intel is shitting the Xe into the marketplace and while it will undoubtedly be a piece of shit it certainly won't help AMD any. I try not to even think of AMD as it compares to NVDA cuz it's depressing. They will both prosper and AMD will prosper where it doesn't compete with NVDA, namely CPUs

The problem is that the stock price is automatically adjusted for the dividend payout. Stock is at $5 and is paying out $0.3? It will open at $4.7 (+- some amount subject to market forces). How long it takes to go back to $5 depends on the specific stock. As I recall, swiss bank stock something-or-other is a fast recoverer, you could be rid of the stock in weeks after receiving the dividend. Some take almost a whole quarter to recover so that you're kinda stuck there because by the time it's recovered, it's receiving the next payout. Some are even worse off, they slowly bleed forever.
