>Daydream about spending hundreds of thousands on a nice place, own a nice car, living in a nice country
>Actually have that money in my portfolio now, upper six figure hell
>Think about buying nice organic basic t-shirt for like 20 bucks and decide against it cause it's too expensive and not necessary after all.

Even if I ever make it to millionaire status I will never spend the fucking money. Once you enter frugal mode you don't leave it do you?
How do i deal with this. What the fuck did I grind out for.

I cashed out around 100k because I figured I spread that across other things (etfs etc.) but haven't yet. Once I had it in my account I started thinking what I could do with it and thought about buying things (I don't even own a car, I use public transport) but quickly realized that there is no way in hell I'm spending money on money wasters when I could instead put it back in crypto, stocks or soething else. I don't know man, what is this leading to

The most important thing to remember is to live within your means. You don't want to be a target, you want to be "everyday" rich. You dress nicely, you practice good hygiene. Perhaps you drive a BMW at most. Your home is very nice but upper middle class at most. You don't wear expensive brands, perhaps a nice watch if you really need one. You don't live as a consoomer, you live as a free man.

Homes like the one in your picture are nice, sure, but believe me when I say that you don't want to deal with the people that kind of lifestyle attracts. Your neighbors are shitty, defective humans. Nobody is really interested in you, just your money. Plus, you're going to be paying property taxes on it indefinitely. That isn't frugal, it's a waste. Buy a nice home on a lake, or a decent home on the coast in Florida (Destin is nice for example).

Good, that means you'll still be a millionaire in 5 years. Retention rate of overnight millionaires (lottery, inheritance, etc) is unbelievably low, like less than 20% are able to sustain their newfound wealth into perpetuity.

You get rich by being frugal and taking risks. You become poor by spending your wealth. Sounds obvious, but a lot of people seem to think once they get rich it's like a steam achievement that never goes away and they can just live large forever.

Take 3% of your net worth as a draw each year, let the rest compound in stonks or rental properties. If that 3% lets you indulge in some luxurious shit, so be it. If it doesn't, so be it. That's the bottom line.

It takes a while for your expenses to rise to your income if you're not really that sort of person. For example, I work in professional memery, and my income has gone like

>year 1: 45k a year, save 1k a month, shit apartment, shit furniture, spend little on grocery
>year 2: 55k a year, same as above
>year 3: 100k a year, takes about 6 months to move to a better apartment, expenses begin to creep in "Deal with problems for me" ways (e.g., maids, movers, food delivery, etc.) can save around 3-4k a month
>year 4: 200k a year. Same as above, but now also buying better furniture, cars, etc. Save around the same a month.
>year 5: 250k a month, start buying meme shit and boomer investments. Pretty much every dollar I get I spend on SOMETHING because why not.

Anyway, a big problem you might be having is the idea that this is a temporary windfall. Which is a good way of thinking, but it does keep you from enjoying money while you have it.

Yes and no. Money doesn't make you happy, but it definitely removes problems.
>mfw talking to a billionaire about daily life
>He has live in servants who constantly clean up after him, bring him things, prepare things before he wants them. E.g., he leaves his bedroom and the servant immediately changes the sheets and makes the bed.
>any service he wants comes to him. He can call someone to shave him, give him a haircut, give him head, etc.
>he can get the best of virtually anything he wants as he casually drops thousands of dollars on random lunches - he doesn't even know how much it costs because his servant pays for him
And yet
>He complains about how becoming a billionaire has made him extremely unhappy because now all he has to think about are the fundamental problems he has that money can't resolve

This is less a frugality thing and more having a bad relationship with money. If you've already done the math and know that, for example, you can spend $50/week on food and still meet your financial goals, then you shouldn't feel guilty about spending $5 on the nicest chocolate bar in the store.
Personally, I've cut out most of the unessential elements of my life (I don't own furniture, sleep on the floor, save 70% of my salary, etc) but that doesn't mean I'm an ascetic who is willing to sacrifice all happiness to save an extra $50 per year on things that would otherwise bring me joy. I'll buy expensive ingredients, or books, or vacations, because I've invested my time and energy into ensuring that those things will bring me joy. Find what makes you happy, build systems and structures to enable that while meeting your financial goals, and you'll spend the next 30 years feeling fulfilled instead of spending your entire life miserable just to be able to spend it at 65 when all of your life has passed you by and you're too old to do what you wanted to do in the first place.

No since the root is that happiness doesn't come with money, it helps but you can't buy it. If that was the case no rich would be depressed or sad ever and it would be impossible for the poor to find happiness.

It helps sure, no one will deny that and being poor will always be strictly better than being poor.

You don’t need to be a master at something to make money doing it; common logical fallacy.

Think about skills like money. There comes a point where you’ve created a feedback loop of gains that perpetuate more gains: and when developing skills that point is when you make the leap to live/work solely with that skill. You get exponentially better very quickly because you’re now putting most of your time into developing that skill.

You can do it with anything you have a passion for, as long as you’re willing to work hard and create the best work you possibly can.
