For people new to silver:

The bankers use a derivatives market called the COMEX to manipulate the price of silver. 500 digital ounces of silver are traded back and forth for every real ounce held in the vaults. Equivalent to fractional reserve banking. The banks heavily short silver there. So much so that they would go bankrupt if the physical was taken delivery of. The regulators said when first setting up silver-trading on the COMEX in the 70s that the purpose was to scare off the average investor with suppression and volatility. Don’t let them beat you. Adjusted for inflation, silver should be $966 (ShadowStats).

This article about the Hunt Brothers, "Hunt for Silver," is also a must-read: https://s3.amazonaws.com/camppictures/CampArchive/Economy/Hunt%20For%20Silver.pdf They were cheated by the bankers just like the GME short-squeezers today.

If you buy silver, only buy either physical coins or if you do go with ETFs, PSLV. DO NOT buy SLV.

PSLV: Run by billionaire silver-bull and banker-killer Eric Sprott, fully audited and backed, with a delivery mechanism at 10,000 ounces for anybody

SLV: No proven metal, run by JP Morgan, only a few big banks have access, delivery for 500,000 ounces only, can pay you out in cash in case of a default

If you can't buy PSLV (just now banned on Robinhood) then buy AG, First Majestic Silver. It's the next GME. Support the squeeze on this company which has a 30% short-float. The bankers are trying to punish CEO Keith Neumeyer, who is refusing to supply the COMEX.

So Melvin and other shorts go bust, they can't pay the GME holders their infinity $, now it falls on the clearing house (RH) to make good on the trade.
RH needed to do this to not become insolvent and go under, not sure how big the ripple effects would be from this but it's possible it could take out the entire market.

Imagine a 65 year old "rich person" taking delivery of a million bucks of silver bars. That would be over a ton of physical silver at today's prices. And for what - to try to fuck with his fellow rich people?

Britfag here - what are other anons opinion on ETFS Physical Silver ETC (PHAG.MI)

"WisdomTree Physical Silver (1673) is designed to offer security holders a simple and cost-efficient way to access the silver market by providing a return equivalent to the movements in the silver spot price less the applicable management fee. 1673 is backed by physical allocated silver held by HSBC Bank plc (the custodian). Only metal that conforms with the London Bullion Market Association's (LBMA) rules for Good Delivery can be accepted by the custodian. So how do these "units" work? Is this effectively a PSLV token that is backed by a fixed store of silver?

It looks like PSLV issues "units" for sale and at the same time holds some amount of silver, but there is not a fixed relationship between these things since the unit-to-ounce exchange rate fluctuates.

I don't know if it's a scam per se but it isn't like holding physical. Let's take then at their word:

>PSLV has N ounces of silver in vaults and shit
>PSLV sells M "units" that fluctuate in relation to the amount of silver they have
>You can only cash out if you have 10K ounces equivalent in "units"

So PSLV is sort-of backstopped in that IF you own more than 10K ounce equivalent in "units" you can cash out, but I don't see how the number of "units" is issued or controlled. Are units fixed and are only change when they buy more silver, or do they issue more units as well? Is there a chart of unit-to-ounce ratios over time? There is obviously not a 1:1 ratio since they have a real time conversion chart.

Yes, it's effectively a token. The trick to metal ETFs is that they take their operational fees out of the stock. This means that each unit is worth progressively less real metal over time. This is the main reason why 1 share isn't the same price as 1oz, and the spread will become larger over time.

This doesn't mean they aren't a good idea, I own lots of PSLV, but it does mean you should buy them in the right amount, for the right reason, and hold for the right amount of time.

PSLV can't easily "default" because of the 10K ounce delivery floor and the token-to-ounce ratio. It isn't like they are issuing straight fiat, it's just that the ratio of their units to physical can (apparently) be whatever the fuck they want.

the gold:silver ratio should basically never return to its historical figure. ever. silver was a secondary metal for thousands of years, but after heavy machinery, there are now purpose-built silver mines. we will forever have oodles and oodles of silver available to us, unless we begin asteroid mining and discover that there's lots of gold in them but no silver.

No. You are just going to dry up the retail market. If you want to squeeze them, you need to be removing bars from the COMEX. If you can't take a bar (1,000 oz), then the next best thing is to buy PSLV, because Eric Sprott will indeed stand and take delivery on your behalf to balance the fund.

90% of people in the Western world aren't going to do shit except watch cable TV. Here's some shallow research because you're even more retarded than I am.

Mining output = 850M ounces/y: https://www.silverinstitute.org/mine-production/

~20% of that output is into "investment" silver (pic related).

So the investment market is 170M ounces/year of physical silver. This seems do-able for autists to drive the physical market up.

Some sources give the annual supply of silver as only 600 million ounces. I especially believe that figure of a time like this given all the mine shut-downs. So 20% of that figure is closer to 100 million investable ounces. Governments only stockpile 3 weeks' mine supply. 60 ounces of silver put you in the top 1% of holders, as opposed to 30 ounces in the case of gold (so above ground investable silver to gold is only 2:1). Mining ratio only 8:1. GME 140% short, banks silver positions up to 50,000% short. This is the easiest and greatest short squeeze of all time.
