27117614 No.27117614 [Reply] [Original]

Since we've become, I assume, recent shareholders of GME, we should brainstorm ideas on ways to grow the business.
Me? I propose we start a same day delivery service if you have one in your area. Like say you place an order and it goes through and the workers work on baking your order and then as soon as it's ready it's out the door like a pizza soon to be delivered to your house. What do you think?

get rid of those 24/7 gamestop news podcasts playing in the store. they clutter the mind and make you want to get the fuck out
they could work on making it a more comforting place to be. Gamestop stores could host tournaments and have an area designated for playing games or hanging out. Most people feel isolated recently, and having a gamestop as a place of social interaction in the generally isolating hobby/pasting of gaming would be welcome. Think of the vibe you get from a local comic shop or how zumiez used to have those couches that you could chill in.
There are ways for GameStop to capitalize off of the momentum of this situation, the nostalgia that many people feel, and the social isolation of younger people in the modern world

like have a section set aside for that, it would still be a store first but there would be a central area with a couch or chairs and the ability to rent a console
I may have had a dream about it before recently, but it could be a square shaped store, and along the walls would be games, not different from a normal gamestop. But in the middle there would be a square-shaped area where the floor is one or two steps lower and in that area is where the gaming and socializing can happen. So the people playing games would be embedded into the middle of the store. Almost like a living display case for the products that GameStop is selling

Even if things are moving online, a brick and mortar store can have the ability to survive by providing an experience. People generally are getting more lonely, and there isn't a place for nerds to meet up, it's a perfect opprotunity

of course there would have to be changes made for different buildings and storefronts but the idea is flexible

I forgot to say they should also get into eSports.
They could organise tournaments, sponsor players/teams. They already have good relations with publishers/developers which could help get them on board as sponsors. This would be beneficial for scenes that don't get enough support from their developers like smash

I propose we have our company formally rebranded as "GameStonk". This would confer a number of benefits:

1. Seeing the media have to keep calling it 'GameStonk' would be funny as fuck
2. The memetic energy conferred would make it funnier to keep holding, leading to:
3. More shareholder confidence that this is a shared community thing we're doing, causing holds to get harder to release.
4. The mass media spotlight this move would get would act as obscene amounts of free publicity, driving interest to the shops themselves and boosting the company's fundamentals.

The longer we keep the price up, the more it is going to savage the hedge funds and their backers. We should be thinking of ways to extend this ride as far as possible.

Have you ever actually spent time in the same physical space as other "gamers"?
It's an autism convention.
How fucking long and hard did E3 and ComicCon have to suffer through the endless hell of nerd conventions until through untold amounts of money and sheer dumb luck they somehow managed to make them socially acceptable.

They actually had to make E3 vendor and invite only to make the event a net positive for their industry.
ComicCon just stumbled ass backwards into acceptance culture.
But this is on a national scale.
Boil it down to not just your state, not just your city, your local commercial district.

Who is gonna be hanging out at gamestop?
Is it gonna be the socially competent normal.people who happen to enjoy video games?
Or is it gonna be wall to wall turbo autistics sweating all over the furniture and scaring away the confused boomers looking for birthday presents for their grandchildren?

Buy used games for 50% of retail and sell for 75% of retail. This creates a psuedo subscription system and alleviates the $80 game issue. If people cycle through the exchange system they can get new games for $40 + their old game and keep coming back unloading their old games. Used games are still a 50% roi and can be cycled many times. Plus it makes stuff easier for low income families to play games. It would win over digital as well in situations where you can't resell the digital game.

Idk if it's profitable enough for a mall lease.

The gamestop equivalent here actually did it before, a bunch of Xbox's lanned together playing halo2.
The people who played it were not unsocial nerds, nor overweight fucktards but 90% of them were teenagers who couldn't afford the game/pay for online.

Sadly teenagers these days are both unsocial fucktards AND leech enough money off their parents to get whatever they want and to pay their $10 a month online passes so it'd end up a bunch of abandoned consoles nobody touches on the side, since individuals don't play shit with strangers unless there's already people playing and they join in.

Halo 2 transcended gaming.
It was a cultural event.
A ton of people didn't have xbox live.
A ton didn't even have high speed internet.
A ton didn't have xboxes.
There was a reason to go somewhere to play that game.
I myself had a xbox and halo 2 but not xbox live or high speed internet.

Those days are long gone.

I think the volatility of the audience the store caters to means it's best to transition much of its business to the online arena, as they're already trying to do. Keep certain autistic gamers in the comforts of their homes instead of endangering normies with their disgusting presence, everyone's happy.
